Is it legal to fly drone in Foster City cause it seems close to the SFO ?

So I'm not a lawyer and please don't completely rely on my advice (not legal advice). I am also only a certificated private pilot (not a CFI) and this is what I know of so far. So short answer is yes, but with restrictions. Drones are allowed to be flown in Class G (uncontrolled) airspace up to 400 ft AGL. Whenever you are flying in Class B, C, D, or E airspace, you need prior authorization from ATC. Looking at the aeronautical sectional chart, zooming into Foster City, the northern part of Foster City falls into KSFO Class B airspace from the surface up, therefore prior authorization is needed before flying a drone there. The southern part of Foster City falls into KSQL Class D airspace, which is also controlled airspace. Now, as of 01/2023, the chart supplement mentions that the KSQL ATC operates from 0700 to 2100 local time. Whenever ATC closes for the night, KSQL's airspace reverts from Class D to Class G airspace. Therefore, at nighttime, drones are allowed to fly without prior authorization, as long as all regulations are complied with. One more thing to mention is that there may be TFRs (Temporary Flight Restrictions) that may be active occasionally, so drone pilots MUST be aware of this before flight. By the way, the airspace is governed by the FAA, NOT the city or state.
