Cheers Louis, My days of roughing it are just about over. I really appreciate the camper comforts after tenting all my life. It will restrict me a little but I can always leave it at home and take the tent…I’ve been meaning to go back to the place I made my very first video. It’s another great spot with amazing views but it’s a difficult 4x4 track and I would not be able to tow anything to get there.

Another wonderful video Frank! Interesting you decided on a trailer. I did that for a while and then decided I didn’t like towing it. I’ll be curious to see if you decide this is a keeper. Digger as always is so wonderful to watch! Till next time, Cheers!

Hey Chris, yeah, committing to a trailer was a big change. Many times I’ve found myself down a track needing to turn around and thinking “if I had a camper trailer in tow I’d be stuffed!” I’ll just have to plan where I go and get out and walk if I’m not sure I can turn around. Other than that, the camper is so light and small I barely notice it. It’s also slightly narrower than the Hilux which makes suburban towing easy.

Thanks! First thing Digger did was secure his new spot!…he didn’t even want to come down for a Scooby snack! Lol. I’ll probably miss a couple more regular uploads while I get the camper sorted and get ready for the road trip to North Queensland…big adventures planned for the coming months!

Thank you! Glad you liked it. How did I do with the Quesadilla?? …my local shop didn’t have corn tortillas, only flour. Also, unfortunately I only had cheddar instead of something like Manchego cheese. Did I forget the onion?? I would normally add some, I must of forgot. Mexican food is one of my favourites, so fresh and full flavour

Digger is the star of the show, sitting so still at one stage with his favourite toy in his mouth, what was that rather large meal you cooked for him, looked better than what you had 😂 looking forward to your next trip

Hi, Digger doesn’t need a separate trailer, he’s already claimed this one! Lol. He slept in the middle of the bed with his legs spread, while I was curled up on the edge🙄 The next adventure will be a road trip to Queensland for a mates wedding! Digger’s dinner was just pasta, tuna and baked beans…it was not as good as my ‘whiskey & Brisket’ lunch😎

Nice set up there Frank, you won't know what to do with all that extra storage space and Digger looks like he's decided on his spot! I was wondering what was happening when you dropped off the screen there but now everything is clear. I finally got a video up of my set up but half of the video files were corrupt so I lost a lot of footage including the area shots. Those Stoney Creek campers have a pretty good reputation so you should be well happy with it, especially the comfort. I'm heading off again next week and thinking of taking Knucklehead with me on this trip, it won't be as relaxing for me but I'm sure he will love it and I need to try and get him broken in!

Hi Steve, yeah, been very busy these last couple of weeks. I picked up the camper several hours away near Coffs Harbour then spent some time going through it all…I’ll probably miss a couple more regular uploads until I’m fully organised with it. Plus, I’m busy getting ready for a road trip to Queensland for a mates wedding. I’m sure you won’t regret taking your dog with you. They are great camping companions and they love being able to roam free in the wild..so much for them to sniff and listen to. Digger loves it! If you can, take him to a remote place where you don’t have to worry about other campers…or their dogs. Run him around in the morning then he’ll just sleep next to the fire for the rest of the day!

If I were to run his a$$ ragged in the morning I would be lucky to get half an hour out of him before he's ready to go again!!🤣🤣 But I do need to get him used to camping so it looks like he's coming along. The knucklehead is jabbing his toy into my hip as I type this!

@@stevepratley Lol, Digger is only just starting to slow down now and he has just turned 7! This hot weather will keep them relaxing under the car in the shade though! maybe a chest harness and a very long rope lead with one end tied to your chair while you enjoy a few cold ones! 😎

Hi Frank. I must say the new tent trailer was worth the wait. What a great addition to your setup. You can tow it just about anywhere! I like the slide out kitchen. You really have options for how you want to cook and it looks like there is a ton a storage. I’ve never seen a tent trailer with seating on one side and a bed on the other. I’ve only seen ones with beds on both sides so this is so perfect for you. Does the tent trailer have the option to add a removable awning to cover the door area and kitchen in case of rain? The ones I’ve seen here in the states have awnings that zip on after set up and zip off prior to closing things down. Anyway, I’m really excited for you and Digger to have many adventures with this new addition!! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Suzanne, I’m very happy with this set up. Towing does add some challenges but the extra level of comfort makes up for it…and the extra storage will soon get filled with camping ‘essentials’ 😎 it’s an off road model and quite light and small, so I should not be restricted too much on where I can go. I really like the lounge area, that’s a big upgrade to my set up. I might make a little mini bar so I can easily reach movie munchies or make a coffee in the morning without needing to go outside. The kitchen is great too, a sink and plumbed water is a luxury for camping. I think I’ll put more effort into the cooking segments now that I’m fully set up. It did come with a zip in awning but I don’t think I’ll use it. It takes ages to set up with a dozen poles and is not too strong in the wind. I’ll continue to use my gazebo, much quicker to set up, stronger and bigger. It will leave a rain gap between it and the camper but I’m ok with that trade off. I’ll probably miss a couple more regular uploads while I finish off getting it and myself ready for the big road trip to my mates wedding in a couple of weeks.

hey mate, nice set up, looks similar to a CUB Camper, I agree the lounge area is the best space - makes it so flexible for those times you get caught in the rain, I think setting up a small space for indoor food prep is a good idea especially for morning cupper etc as you mentioned, I can see ya having some great meals and social gatherings, the only temptation is to over pack but hey whatever floats ya boat - I'm officially jealous 😁👍

Cheers Steve! Can’t wait to head out in it again. I picked it for cheap, so it’s got lots of little jobs that need doing…replace the seat covers, replace the floor, clean the canvas and sort out the wiring. I’d also like to change the wheels/tyres to match the ute but I think the camper wheel arches are too small, I’ll take it to a trailer builder and see what they think. So I’ll miss this Sundays upload again…I’ll try and get out next week. I’m also getting ready for a big road trip to north Queensland at the end of the month. Hopefully we’ll finally catch up when I get back from that👍

sounds really good mate with an almost blank canvas to make it your space, are you thinking of going some short pieces on the trailer jobs.....? showing things like the power system or an inside breakfast bar would be very cool to see. Enjoy your trip - gunna be warm in QLD.👍🌞🏊‍♂

i've thought about doing other types of video's, like modifications, reviews etc but I don't think it suits the channel. Any time I deviate slightly, the views drop. The video I did with my mate and his son, riding bikes, camping and fishing by the river was my worst performing video...even the road bike/hammock video I did not long ago is under performing. I thought that video was well within my usual scope but it just didn't resonate with my audience. So, I will keep this channel just for 4x4/camper relaxing and cooking. I'll start a new channel in the new year that is a 'faster pace' based on road trips and I will talk to camera in that one.

Hi Melissa, they are just cheap ones form Kmart. I think they are steel enameled. I prefer this type over plastic so I don’t have to worry about accidentally melting them…I can also keep food warm by resting them on the firepit

Hi Bernice, the camper came with an annex but they are time consuming to set up and are not very sturdy in the wind. I’ll use my free standing gazebo when I need sun or rain protection…there will be a gap between the gazebo and the camper but I’m ok with the trade off for the ease of use of the gazebo.
