How to free a steering wheel fully locked by immobilizer and start your car. I show 2 cases, with and without any possible movement of the steering wheel. Demostrated on my Meriva B 2010-

Thanks for sharing this. I had a situation where I parked and barely touched the steering wheel when it locked. Even though the tires were fairly straight and I didn't have any wiggle room I couldn't get it to unlock. I was reacting the same way you were saying.... thinking I'll have to call a tow truck, and find a way home, etc. I kept fooling with it & not wanting to get too crazy to get it to release. But I while worrying about how much force it could take before it broke and then I'd really be in trouble. Kept trying to wiggle it some when it finally released. You just confirmed for me what happened and I so appreciate it! I can't stand how little movement of the wheel it took to lock it up that tight! Makes me wonder if it is going bad or something.

Glad it helped! The wheel blocks when turned AFTER the car is turned off, as an anti-theft feature. You can prevent blocking the wheel by not moving it at all when you shut down the engine.
