@J Scotland I suppose it would have been better then if he just drowned, right? The don't make "friends" with the animals in their care, however, had he not had the sense to go back toward then he most likely would have died from drowning or hypothermia.

dustigenes Quite right. If he’d headed away from people they would probably not found him and he may have died of exposure. This don’t befriend animals thing is a bit 50/50. At least if a released animal survives long enough to breed and produce more wild offspring then it’s all been worthwhile.

Owls are quite intelligent. He probably just recognized her and knew she would help. Lets applaud his intelligence rather than start a conspiracy theory on whether or not he's bonded or imprinted to her. Besides he flew away to begin with so he cant be that bonded.

I feel like this video proves that animals know when you rescue them. That owl was so comfortable swimming up to her. It’s like it knew that it needed to be rescued again, and that she was someone it could trust.

I wouldn't say it went "wrong." It was more along the lines of "did not go as planned." The owl did struggle, obviously. However, it did not suffer any injuries and did make it back to land, pretty much, all on its own. I am very glad that everything worked out well.

When first landed that owl was confused and looked around instead of swimming toward the closet land!! And after seeing the rescuers in sight he was like Heyyyyyyy help meeee!!!! Is it just me who notice he was looking at the woman's hand and stop flapping on water as if he knows that she's picking him up?!?!?!? This is adorable

I love tawny owls they reali have a special place in my heart and when I watch this I laugh a lot....... It just proves that wildlife releases don't always go as planned but almost all of the time you get a fantastic feeling of seeing an animal released back into the wild where they belong 😃

+Wildlife Aid l've heard that the only people (nyc) who are licensed are Sean Casey Rescue (Brooklyn NY). atleast they are able to care for many animals who should not be pets (ny state law.) mostly they do dog/ cat etc adoptions. they do have reptile experts and so on. l'm not sure whether they would do raptors...
