Well said. 2 legendary bands had a baby called Wilson Phillips. Honoring their folks' namesake, AND becoming LEGENDARY in their own right, decades later. The harmonies of Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys) and John & Michelle Phillips (The Mamas and the Papas) carried on in their daughters, in a beautiful marriage, blending together seemingly. These ladies are definitely gifted by the hands of the almighty, as their parents were. My mom grew up on both older bands, sharing her love and appreciation for music with me, and then I grew up on WP, my mom an instant fan, as well. She and I would harmonize together, me singing Monday Monday as a little girl, onto belting out "Hold On" as a preteen, with mom singing alto harmony. She went to her home in the sky in 2018. Music keeps our beloved and bereaved closer to us. ❤ Sorry for the long reply. Their harmonies squeezed my heart, and some of my memories popped out. Wanted to share something that made my heart smile with others. Happy New Year, everyone!🎉

@carriethompson843 жыл бұрын
Here in 2021, got this song stuck in my head and it just brought back like this whole plethora a great music from the good old days aka the eighties and nineties. After the year 2000 or Y2K, it seems like as soon as the Clock Struck midnight and it was 2000 come out Life as we know it completely changed. Something did happen on that night but I can't tell you what. A reality shift? A paradigm shift I'm not really sure but I just know that nothing has been, looked, smelled or even felt the same in years. When I listen to this kind of music, it takes me back just enough to remember that it was a real time but I can't fully remember, it's truly like The Matrix which is not a conspiracy by the way but they've got all this 90s clothing and stuff coming back with the scrunchies in the hair and they're doing it on purpose. They took away the best time literally of Our Lives. Everybody will tell you 80s and 90s were the best
@nachgeben3 жыл бұрын

Yes, Joe! That final chorus is something to live for--so gorgeous, and the way it gathers a greater force than any of the earlier iterations--a total stroke of genius in terms of the arrangement. I remember when this came on the radio and I was so look forward to the brilliance of that final section as the most perfect punctuation to a splendid song. This and "You're In Love" are definitely their best tracks. Cheers! Christopher

Release me is an absolute core memory for me! When I broke up with my first “boyfriend” (as a preteen/early teen) this album had just dropped a few months prior and I actually played this song off the cassette over the phone to him when I found out that he had kissed another girl after 3 years together! The unique harmonies that Chynna, Carnie and Wendy bring to the world are amazing and unmistakable to someone who played this particular song on repeat/rewind for months on end. I never doubted my guess for the Lambs from the first note.

They had no skin showing, they weren't shaking their asses, or sexing the camera in every video. Cut to four months later! LOL Every freaking record label on both sides of the Atlantic scrambled to put together a Wilson-Phillips of their own. Even on the contemporary gospel side, they came up with one. Record label suits don't make stars. The public do. We musn't ever forget that.

This song came out when I was 20 years old. Now I'm 45, and still love it. I love this song. And I'm a man. This was their best song. That last chorus really kicks and you feel it in your heart. Great job!
