Easy Feldenkrais Lesson to relieve shoulder and neck pain, improve flexibility of shoulders and chest, and ease flow of breath. Helpful exercise to relieve tension and stress at the computer to improve posture for hunched shoulders. Also great for healing whiplash, head injury, neck injury, rib injury, shoulder injuries, and headache. This is one of the gentlest frozen shoulder exercises at home.
- This gentle practice through sliding your thumb and hand with guided awareness yields effective results. Helps move emotions and anxiety from chest through finding skeletal support and neurological pathways of connection to the ground. .

Very very useful, its a little bit difficult at first if there is too much tension, I can see in other comments people seem to have a hard time with the "mental state" like meditatating in to it with the brain the limbs in 3 parts is like a puzzle. Once I get used to it I do appreciate and, a huge release in my thoracic/neck (pop) nice!!!!!

Yes, these lessons can feel tiring-- that is common since you are using your brain more than usual, outside of habits, and using new skeletal-nerve-muscular patterns

@SensingVitality
@SensingVitality Жыл бұрын
Hi Alys, Check out some other lessons that feel easier for you. You can also try standing and lean against the wall so there is less effort in sitting upright. I have found Whiplash lessons are often best done in a seated position or standing with back and head against the wall. The other thing to remember is that if you have that much pain or weakness to watch the video first and see if you can do most of it in your imagination so you are not tiring the physical muscles. Do in small steps. It takes patience to recover, slow and steady steps.

Hi Annie I have a problem reaching my right arm across to my left cheek. What is a simpler way to reduce the pain of bicep, tricep and supraspinitis tendinitis please? My upper inner right arm really hurt and I had to abort the lesson at that point. You have mentioned something I didn’t know - about how long we can focus on the movements. I’ve just discovered Somatic movement- it’s amazing, incredible!!! Thank you 🙏🏽
@SensingVitality
@SensingVitality 3 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. Good you stopped the lesson if it hurt. Did you try supporting your right elbow with your left hand so you are holding the weight of your right arm with your left hand? This skeletal connection is important-- you can also try dropping your head downward, rounding your back to make the distance shorter between your hand and cheek. It's a bit like "connect the dots" for the brain to sense these skeletal connections and then the muscles will have this skeletal support to relax. The other idea I have for you is to work with your low back and pelvis support-- finding your sit bones, hip joints so your are not having to hold yourself as much from your chest. This skeletal support from below is very helpful for shoulder issues. Try some of my blanket roll lessons, low back and hip lesson playlists -- also I have a lot on Patreon working with shoulders: the Squirrel series, Swan, Robin.... these animals teach us a lot how to move better. Keep me posted.

It sounds like you may need to give your body time to heal-- go gently with yourself to find a way to do these lessons without too much intensity for your body. Emotions will surface, go slow and gently so you can allow the emotion to move gently.

@SensingVitality
@SensingVitality 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Cindy--sounds like you need to start with even gentler movements/positions. The upper body and neck need to be stabilized after a car accident, so small and gentle movements are the best. I like to lean my back and head against the wall to get extra support. You can try that in a standing position. Be very gentle with yourself. Getting hit especially in a car accident is a lot of force on the body and takes some time to heal and find stability. I have other whiplash videos -- watch them first and then check in with you body. If you can breathe and feel safe/relaxed then that video may be OK. If you are holding your breath, it's a sign that the movements or exercise is too much.

Hi Cordell-- Try a different lesson, perhaps one of my lessons where you are lying down and then come back to this lesson. Sometimes it could be the position you are working in may be too much effort to feel the bones and allow your muscles to relax. Positions make a difference for us to feel more clearly these neurological connections. Your body may have a lot of tension to support your neck and shoulders. Try the Swan lesson or something on the ground and see. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Martha, because this lesson is in sitting and requires spreading your hands in a particular way to sense the bones, it may be too difficult to relax enough with the movements to start with. Another lesson to try instead is Floss Upper Back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJXWnGNnmbypjas or can check our my shoulder playlist for something that looks right for you. These lessons require "doing less" effort for them to work-- many times when we try to do something right, we use too much effort. Try another lesson and then come back and try this again and see if it feels easier and if you find more sensation. Thanks for the feedback.
