'Thou shall not kill' is mistranslated. Its 'thou shall not commit unjustified homocide.'

Sorry but are you actually trying to use religion to disagree with a political/legal decision? Just because the decision appears to be similar to a particular religion (in fact not just one - i would say most religions have this as a tenet). I do not live in the USA but i am interested in what is happening in the world and interested in how people are reacting to this decision.

James U, yes, that is exactly what squarewave2 is doing. He cites religious concepts for his critique of the Supreme Court decision, and also cites a religious concept (HYPOCRISY) for the affirmation of his own arguments. You seemed to have caught that error before anyone else. These contradictions in logic are quite common among persons objecting to the recent decision of the Supreme Court. Also, such persons do not cite case law as evidence for anything, but instead, offer their personal opinions to justify their thinking, but personal opinions are not probative in any of the knowledge disciplines, including the domain of Jurisprudence. It is rather like the persons in the "Sovereign Citizen" movement who go before a judge and offer their own interpretation of facts, rather than present case law to support their arguments. It is perhaps a fultile expectation to think that such persons will adopt either legal facts or logic in the presentation of their ideas. (I was very impressed to see your immediate insight into the matter!)

Hi James Yes, James, in your own words, I am trying to use religion to disagree with a political/legal decision. Completely justified because this "political/legal" decision deals with RELIGION! My critics say that abortion is not a religious issue and therefore the Supreme Court has every right to prohibit it without violating the separation of church and state. How can anyone with their eyes open believe that the "right to life" philosophy is not of religious origin? I would ask my critics where they think "right to life" comes from if not from religion. Would life be considered sacred to an atheist? When asked why life is sacred, supporters say it is because life was created by God. "Religion" is defined as '"A belief in and worship of a God or Gods". The sanctity of life is a religious belief and as such it is of limits to the Supreme Court.

@@squarewave2 thanks for your thoughts, i would agree with much you say except, that looking as an outsider, in the USA life appears pretty cheap - the number of mass murders that take place in clubs, churches, schools and yet people who are mentally compromised are still permitted to get their hands on weaponry to commit more atrocities. Oh well, best wishes to you and yours 😁😁

I do not intend to be abusive toward you my friend, but you lack objective knowledge of the U. S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. However, in the United States where most of us enter into a learning curve when trying to understand legal history and the knowledge criterion which apply to Law in the U.S. there is a need to avoid errant conclusions and misinformation. Another oddity in your communication, is that you use claims of HYPOCRISY, and thereby, demonstrate that you not only criticize persons using religious concepts for premises, you also use religious concepts for premises. This shows your violation of the Aristotelian Law of Noncontradiction, because regarding the same context and at the same time, you both object to religious conceptions and use religious conceptions for your premises. Logical contradictions such as you employ are frequently found in arguments where people offer ideas that are at best, the result of incomplete analysis of a subject. The fact that you are unable to cite specific case law regarding the decisions of the Supreme Court, shows that what you present for the public is merely a personal opinion. Your personal opinion is not "law" in the United States. ------ Equally important is the fact that you have assumed that American Law is founded upon "religion" and this is a ubiiquitous error amongst persons with little real knowledge of law. American Law is promarily based upon the Ancient Roman Legal System, which is why many of the formal legal terms like "Habeus Corpus" derive from the Latin Language as used in the Roman Empire. In that context, you are probably unaware that the Roman Senate passed a law prohibiting abortion. A person intending to broadcast their ideas, may want to ensure that their information coincides with facts.

A very erudite if somewhat irrelevant critique. Some facts are so obvious that they do not need documentation. Don't you agree that the sanctity of life goes hand and hand with a belief in a supreme being? What do you call this if not religion? The sanctity of life is common to all Eastern and Western religions. The Aristotelian Law of Noncontradiction does not help you; It is not appropriate outside of a philosophy class. (but it does serve to make you look highly educated) The first amendment is not too complex for the common man to understand: one of the protected rights is religion.

Would you like me to cite some examples for you? The ignorance and narcissistic behavior that has been upheld by the far right has been sickening. President Donald Trump has been nothing but the leader of a cult with ambitions to turn over our democracy. There is not argument to be had. We saw things from him that no other president has ever done in this country. His best friend Vladimir has now started a war with Ukraine and I question where our country would be now if Donald Trump was still president. Under our last presidency our country was at threat of a communist take over. This is no exaggeration due to the attempted government take is known as the insurrection on January 6th. Many enjoy to chock it up to their leaders favorite words “Fake News”, due to the sheer ignorance that has clouded the minds of many American people. There is separation of church and state. Therefore the actions of naming Roe v. Wade unconstitutional due to your religious leaning’s/view’s would be unconstitutional in it of its self. Unless you can give me a reason why it is not a woman’s right to have an abortion over HER OWN BODY, with out it just being your opinion and/or due to your religious leanings, the arguments are null and void. I never thought I would say this, but our country will be much better as GenZ starts gaining more traction in their ability to vote. Check yourself before you wreck yourself my man. Your gonna need it. Ignorance is not reason for innocence.
