Hello chodmunch (😂), If you like folks like my man Marjoe (freakin') Gortner, you should Deep-Dive the (CBS Television) 60 Minutes archives about a fellow child evangelist of that era, his name was "Little Jimmy ( or Timmy) Lord" 60 minutes kept up with Jimmy for years, now I have to go deep-dive both Marjoe and Little Jimmy Lord to see wtf happened to both. I never stole or pawned my stuff. I always worked or ran a business. I didn't drive fkd up. I have no debt. A family. I own everything I have. I'm just so physically dependant on opioids roughly half the year (i take breaks to lower tolerance) .the dope dealer sells dope and I got what i paid for. I understand what it feels like to be stuck in what you think is your life. But at the end of the day, we can’t help but think about how this reality you may live in..is only snuffing out the unique beauty you bring to this world. We people as heart and mind feel the tragedy that our lives are, especially when your canvass is put out of sight, your opinions are not listened to, and it’s like you’re invisible…yet still a bright target. But I know this…if it weren’t for the one I love and his determination for a better life, his undying soul that refused to be bullied into a life he didn’t want…I wouldn’t be a survivor. So he’s teaching me how to be one, and with the heart and mind that opened itself to me, I will be inspired by it, find my lost canvass, and paint my world into a piece I can be proud of. As long as I remember to love myself, I will grow…and I will be happy. The way you see this man’s life, shows me that you’re yet another artist. Do what you are destined for…and paint yours.

@@bayuhartanto281 because judaism is far older than jesus. Officially judaism is about roughly 5 thousand years old. Dating back to the late years of babylon. Its a far cry to what judaism is today and other abrahamic religions like islam and christianity. If you time travel today to the birth pr even the first several hundred years of the start of judaism you'd be surprised how different it is and how and why it spawn modern judaism and Christianity and islam. First they worshipped multiple gods just like the babylonians and the rest of their neighbours. Not til the persians came along that they worshipped one god. Just like any other religions judaism is influenced by other religions that came before them. Monothiestic they got from zoroastrians. Demons and angels were from old babylonian religions of djinns and malak. Stories like noah's ark are directly influenced by stories of zuesudra a tale so old that it could have been passed down to a civilization older than the sumerians themselves. To put it on perspective what the babylonians to us are what the sumerians are for the babylonians. Even in jesus' time babylonians are ancient just imagine the sumerians are. Speaking of sumerians and why we know that there are great civilization before them is because of their name. Sumer roughly translate "came from the sea". And in the epic of gilgamesh basically the oldest recorded story in human history thr opening line is "from the old days from those distant ancient nights a story of king gilgamesh" meaning gilgamesh himself could probably a story passed down generation even before the time of sumeria and uruk.

Historians who aren't included in the Bible acknowledge that a man named Jesus lived & acted the way it's descried in the Bible. This isn't about whether there's a God or not, my original comment was basically saying that these modern religions & leaders DON'T really imitate the Jesus they preach about

I remember him from the movie the Food of the gods. I looked him up and discovered that he was a reformed evangelist. What he says is true. I was born into a Christian family, I was raised in a Pentecostal church with the speaking in tongs stuff, my mom had me in church sometimes 11 times a week. Yes, I dreaded it. But, Eventually as an adult I entered the ministry, and the higher I got the more corruption, greed, hypocrisy, favoritism and many other disturbing things came to my attention. The church I was a part of decided to bring in the speaking in tongues and getting slain in the spirit crap, when I didn’t drink the “Kool-Aid” and pretend with the rest of them I was basically excommunicated. No one in the church would talk to me. I would walk in the door and people would see me and turn the other direction to avoid me, including the Pastor. So that was an eye-opener and I quit the church, and never been back since. I haven’t been in a church in 15 years.

@Anotheius I’m sorry, that you’ve had to go through all of that. It’s a rough life, to live. I ALSO have Bipolar Disorder on TOP of all of that. I’m just now 40-years old, & all of it is still a mental “FIGHT” all day everyday. Know what I mean? I am actually going back to school right now (I currently have a Bachelors in Graphic Design), to get my Masters in Psychology then hopefully my PhD. I now feel my life’s calling is this…to help people with Mental Health Issues (INCLUDING Addiction!), just like myself. I’m very open, about my daily struggles with my Mental Health all in the name of Awareness & Education. But, most people are still very scared, if not terrified, of “coming out of the closet” as having some ‘major’ Mental Illness, Disease, or Disorder simply due to the stigma that STILL exists (we are getting better. But, still a long way to go…similar to racism; in that regard), that has caused US to be ridiculed and make our already-difficult lives even MORE difficult. So, I HAVE stepped out of that closet & have hopefully left that closet door still slightly cracked open. Just so the people still hunkered inside, scared to step out of it, can both see & hear me (that being 1 thing, with both combined)…but, ALSO so maybe some of that light can shine THROUGH that crack in the door, & they gain the strength to let all of that go. I’ve already had many people come to me, on my personal FB, about things…about how they appreciate what I have been doing, I’ve INSPIRED them, and I’ve helped people privately via DMs, with serious Mental Health issues - depression, anxiety, & so on. I don’t say all that to BRAG, GLOAT, or BOAST. That’s not who I am, as a person. I’m actually very humble. I ONLY say all of that to say that that is when I realized what the meaning & purpose(s) if my life truly IS And my Graphic Design won’t be watered. I can still USE that, in my Psychology work. Show results, make posters, make variation things for therapy sessions, informational & educational literature & pamphlets (things like that), & so on. So, yeah. I can’t WAIT to be able to help people, such as yourself, even MORE. Ya know? I just hate that anyone else as ever had to go thru this shit, as well! But, I WILL say this…you’re still HERE, & THAT speaks volumes in-&-of itself.

@@lawrence142002 yeah, I saw on Google he ended up doing some “acting” roles a little later on in life. I just watched the documentary/movie he did in the ‘70s. I was fascinated by a lot of the facts in that. The first one was how much he had to memorize as such a young boy- especially doing those wedding ceremonies!! He even had the same inflection with certain words that he had memorized soo perfectly at the evil and brutal hands of his mother!! And father, of course, but as a mother I take great offense in what she did to him. The other thing I noticed is that many of the other preachers at the time were outraged by the fact that such a young child was becoming known and able to be ordained and perform these wedding ceremonies- (my take was that these sinister ministers were worried he was going to cut into their cash 💰- they SHOULD have been outraged at the idea of such a young child being driven to do this by his parents. These other “preachers” knew the jig- knew it was all an act, so therefore they had to know that he was being forced to memorize and act on behalf of his greedy, immoral parents. No outrage there!!! Sorry I’m so verbose but I really did admire Marjoe’s honesty and ability to come out of this whole thing somewhat unscathed. I also appreciated the fact that he knew he had to keep it professional with women while on the road and never would partake in sexual situations he was put in - he mentioned starting at hotels all the time made it difficult to “keep it in his pants” but I don’t think a whole lot of rock stars/ celebrities…had or have the ability to say NO, whether it be for financial gains or their marital vows. In the end, this is someone I think I would have liked to know- probably had some more amazing stories to tell!!!! Thanks for introducing us to this fascinating character!!!

My parents used to have this native American guy come to the house. He would have us open all the windows and then he would walk around burning sage with a shell for ashes. He would take this feather that he said was passed down to him and push the sage smoke around with it. He said you open the windows so the bad spirits can leave. Then he would burn sweet grass to remind your elders of good times and it would welcome good spirits in. I hated the smell of sage, ugck. My point of telling you this story is maybe if you feel scared of your dad and his beliefs then maybe try and do something to make you feel better. Personally I'm an atheist so it's no dice for me, but you seem to have some belief in you. Maybe if you do something that you feel will protect you it will give you confidence to put up with things till you can leave and not be scared. Take things into your hands and look up things online to do for protection. The mind and believing in things is pretty powerful. Maybe look up prayers from your religion that provide protection, and pray to that Saint. Hang up pictures of that Saint from your religion in your room. Idk if I wasn't an atheist that's what I would do I think.

The fact that he’s admitting to it being a show that’s rehearsed and choreographed but thousands of devout believers couldn’t recognize him from the “true” preachers should tell you all you need to know about the crock that is Christianity. Not exclusively Christianity but uniquely, any way...
@codyash3802
@codyash3802 2 жыл бұрын
@Shane Plyler According to the Bible, the church is actually the people who believe and practice it, not the building they meet within. It tells you that god’s goodness and grace are evident in the conduct of his followers. Therefore, the argument that “you can’t blame the religion for the actions of its followers,” doesn’t apply to Christians. Actually, most religions boil down to that same outcome but uniquely, Christian precepts say it quite plainly. If the people leading the masses in that religion are corrupt, it’s only reasonable to conclude that the ones following their lead are either also corrupt for not dismissing their tainted leaders or are too stupid to recognize it and shouldn’t be considered in any kind of regard. Like in this case, you seem to only focus on the preacher being a fraud. That’s obviously the overtone of the video but you’re missing the underlying issue and the one I find glaringly more telling. The tens of thousands of believers that encountered him believed him to be authentic. They spoke with him, ate with him, prayed with him, sang and danced with him, cried with him, traveled with him...and no one recognized his insincerity. Maybe it’s the “He was a wolf in sheep’s clothing” argument but in all reality, even sheep would recognize a wolf masquerading as them. Christians proudly compare themselves to sheep but in this context, are sheep actually smarter than these believers? Sheep will smell the fraud, notice how the fraud doesn’t sound like them or move like them or behave like them. But Christians can’t do the same? You have to wonder why. I mean, their bible does say “god gives you the spirit of discernment” but are Christians not actually familiar with the *only* existing text that their entire belief system is predicated on? Or are the words in that book just words and the believers don’t have the ability to discern such simple things because there’s no god to give them that capacity? Like personally, I like cars. If someone says they like cars, I can talk to them for a few minutes and tell you if they’re full of it or if there’s really an interest. You can’t coach sincerity. It’s like that with anything. History buffs, anime fans, sports fans, hunters, bodybuilders, homemakers...literally anything you can think of from hobbies to lifestyles to careers, anyone within that community won’t have any problem in spotting someone pretending to also be part of that community when they truly aren’t. They’re experienced in the dynamics of that community. They know the lingo and talking about it is natural for them. They’ll notice someone trying to force it or speaking outside of experience, even when its someone who’s maybe studied that community but hasn’t actually been a part of it. But these massive Christian crowds couldn’t do that? Really? And you don’t wonder why? That’s concerning...

What upset me was when The Rev. Robert Schuller told watchers if they sent their rent money, G*D would reimburse them 100 fold. if it was their last money to send it to him.

I thought I recognized him as a 70's actor. But why wasn't he criminally liable for defrauding the public?

Cause it is labeled as donations which is legal and given by choice.. You notice that they say *"Collect Donations"* so they wouldn't get into a problem with the law.. Since Church and State is separate the Church don't even pay taxes so all the money collected is tax free and legally packeted.. (Loop holes)

He was an actor in the 70s and 80s... Because there's nothing technically illegal about what he was doing.

Massive respect for him not only stopping what he was doing, but also telling everyone what's up. It takes a LOT to break ranks in a religious family. Granted, for me it was easy cause they sucked anyways, but still. It's harsh.

You should do a compilation of the best clips from videos from the "satanic panic" 80s era. I've been on a marathon watching some on youtube, they are hilarious.

Yes but it also warned of people who would want their ears tickled. They wouldn’t endure sound doctrine. The same thing happened in Israel. True prophets and ministers were abused or put to death and the people flocked and pressed for people to preach smooth things and lies. Stories and fabrications. Scriptures warn of these things but not surprisingly, most of those people in those places actually don’t study the scriptures nor test what the preacher is saying
