Serious question; in the first match lachy and Kade, what keeps Kade from grabbing a toe hold when lachy is laying on his back with feet up in his face?

I think he could possibly secure the toehold grip but without any meaningful control of the legs he would not be able to finish anything, it really wouldn't do anything and would possibly leave his own legs exposed to Lachlan's arms.

Kade could dive for a toe hold but it's just not a very high percentage play. Diving toe holds don't tend to work very well, because you make the catch quick, but you don't have a bite on their legs until later, and there's lots of vulnerabilities when going for a toe hold without a strong bite on their legs first. And Kade just isn't really a toe hold guy. From top he more so attacks darces, arm triangles, armlocks, and leg drags to inside heel hooks. The spot where you'll see the most toe holds right now is from reverse closed guard.

@@DrewDarce - worth mentioning the 'toehold' that is being used most effectively in the reverse closed guard has a completely different grip to the regular toehold. Anyone interested can look up the 'abe lock' popularised by Abraham La Montagne.
