It’s the pressure that expands Brass not the heat!

I'm a strong believer on full sizing, even on a bolt action rifles. Also trimming is important to, This will help extremely on accuracy. Like your channel.

Really depending on what your shooting them out of imo,My rifles are bolt guns so i neck size everything about, 5 firings i then full length size and anneal. I keep trimming to a minimum.

True. A nice advantage to bolt guns.

My .223 brass grows .006" (1.492) after firing I measure from the datum line to the case head. I resize my .223 brass back to 1.486

So after you size do you need to go back to cut overall length yet to find a video that covers this on a Progresive press.

If your trimming cases that's usually done outside the progressive press. I use progressive's for bulk ammo so I usually don't trim them unless I'm loading a single stage press.

@@FirearmTutorials great info to know, I was thinking of getting a Lee Pro 4000 and I hear I need to trim my 223 for my AR is that true? the furthest shot I am likely to take is 300 yards, its no event rifle I didn't even do the overly exstensive break in on the barrel just cleaned, lubed and feed a few hundred rounds through it.

@@David_Quinn_PhotographyI loaded 1000s of rounds before I even started trimming the case. You'll likely be fine at 300yds depending on your target. I could still hit an 8x10 sheet of paper with a 3x ACOG at least half the time. Most of my shooting is on steel between 15 and 300yds as well. In my experience the case necks will crack and be un-usable before they are too stretched to need trimming to fit the chamber. Once the necks crack I turn them in 300BO brass 😊

Should I resize service rifle brass or just bolt action?
@FirearmTutorials

Bolt action fired brass can sometimes get by with neck sizing only and can usually be resized more before the case is nov longer usable. Semi auto needs to be fully resized.

After sizing what length do you trim the mouth to?
@FirearmTutorials
@FirearmTutorials 5 ай бұрын
Anywhere between 1.730-1.760 is within spec. Trim to 1.750 with a max of 1.760. This will vary depending on your method of trimming. I'm using the RT-1500 which is pretty consistent, but you will still have some variation. If I have it setup for 1.750 I'll get about 4 thousandths difference. I try to avoid cutting them too short.
