RELOCATING OUR TRAILER CAMERA WIRING TO IN-BED (MUST HAVE FOR 5TH WHEELS W/ GM TRAILER CAMERA)

I RELOCATE/SWAP THE TRAILER PLUGS FROM BUMPER TO IN-BED FOR BETTER CABLE MAGEMENT AND TO GET THE LENGTH NEEDED FOR LONGER 5TH WHEEL TRAILERS
IF YOU HAVE A NEWER 2020+ 2500/3500 GM TRUCK AND TOW A 5TH WHEEL WITH THE GM TRAILER CAMERAS, YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS VIDEO. SIMPLE FIX.

I would assume bumper pulls are more common for towing than 5th wheels…

4 pin is for sled decks, service body's or bed camper lights

Haha who knows man, maybe the guys towing a bumper pull are enjoying that. other than maybe a slide-in camper, idk why you'd need a flat 4 in the bed

I have a question...the user manual for this camera requires 7 measurements to calibrate the trailer camera to the truck...5 of the 7 need a measurement to or from the coupler...but there is no coupler (or receiver used) per se on a 5th wheel. How did you input "revised values" to successfully calibrate to your trucks infotainment center?

@americanduramax. what length of cable did you end up buying and is it still working good for you? Did you ever route the camera connector thru the overhang of the fifth wheel and into the pin box?

Same one in the video buddy! and i routed it externally to the back but did it as clean as possible. the size in the video worked perfect

Did you buy the GM trailer camera system or did you have your own and get an adapter to fit the receptacle in your truck? I’m trying to figure out how to get power to the camera and video back to the truck so that I can see it on my display. 21GMC AT4 3500 I’d prefer to not spend $1000+ on GM camera system. I have a 42’ 5th wheel toy hauler

So these extensions just plug in to the factory ones that go into the bumper, then relocate to bed?

Did you ever fish the wire up to the pinbox? How was that with the big connector on the end of the camera?

I didn't , i ended up just wiring it along the outside of it as clean as possible

Can you please provide the link to the camera extension cables from the bumper to the bed?

I ended up going with FAKRA t-type connector cables I found on Amazon for $9.99 and added another 7 way with camera connectors in the back of my bed. I then bought a 7 way to 4 way converter for $8.99 if I ever pull a small trailer that requires a 4 way plug.

Yes, I have the same set of instructions. The problem is, it does not work well with fifth wheels, or of trailers of the length that I have. They did make some changes in 2024 so you might be OK. I know for a fact they were adding more capabilities to the camera systems for 2024 and Newer The 2020 through 2023 trucks with this interior Are not able to use transparent camera with the trailers I mentioned

Did you use both those part numbers or just one with a quantity of 2? Both look the same except for the color of the ends

They aren't the same. Check the housing types vs the male vs female internal connector.

You can’t get the transparent trailer camera working properly? I watched your video about a year ago on your old trailer and you could not get it to work. I just purchased a 2024 Silverado 2500 HD and pull a 5th wheel and trying to figure out how to get the transparent trailer camera system to work properly.

So apparently the new 2024 Silverado's will work with the GM transparent camera and 5th wheels since they have updated the trailer package to work with 5th wheels and goosenecks as well as long as your not over 32 feet. If your over 32 feet, it will still work if you enter 32' as your max trailer length, however it will not be as accurate video depiction @@americanduramax

my manual has detailed instructions? did you see those? i know camera can only be mounted in specific place on back of trailer for trasnparent to work?
