The small ground wire can also be grounded to the battery. it is all the same

I agree that Earth is Earth in car wiring; however, most, including Warn, require the small ground wire to go all the way back to the solenoid box in their instructions. Since they took the time to ask, we, especially as commercial installers, always follow this request.

Paint pens are cheap. As soon as I started fiddling with custom mounting a winch in my vehicle, I purchased some at the same time as I purchased more suitable bolts.

Any info or pictures on the mount you used in the FJ? I’m doing the same.

Looks like no direct photos of the mount we made for it. It was an L shaped bracket that just used self tapper screws into the side of the inner fender. Nothing fancy! Good luck with your install. Hope our video helped some.

Great vid!! Did you run the cables through the hole behind the headlight or the hole behind the blinker/side markers? Looks like behind the headlight, but after I look at mine, I don’t see any possible way of running them through that hole..

The cables are routed through one of those two holes, I do not recall. We have been running winch cables through the front apron since 2006 on the FJCs, so yes, definitely, one of the spots can accommodate them! We do always recommend using a quality loom to protect the cables as they are hot with a direct mount to the battery, so we never want them to have the jackets direct to metal and short out over time.

Depends on the winch. In this case, Warn would best be able to confirm the relays or "connectors" they provide with their winches.
