Will likely be buying this to use on my EVO 10S when I mount it to the new Bronco. Hoping that will allow me to keep the front camera working when I switch bumpers. With the camera/bumper placement dynamics, there will probably be a lot of demand for this on them.

I’ve run into issues with faulty control boxes due to mud/water. It’s NO FUN having a stuck truck with a dead winch. This mod is worth the $$$

I will be buying this from you guys soon- what a 'no headache' kit! Question: for the universal kit, I noticed online you mentioned mounting the control box within 1.5 feet of the battery. Will a longer distance create less winching ability/power?

Thanks! Yeah our universal bracket isn't shown in this video - but it allows for a ton of mounting variations and comes with hardware to mount to anywhere in your engine bay!

Its about total path length. (+ Length of battery to control box ) plus (+ Length control box to winch) plus ( - length of ground wire to battery). Ultimately you want to keep the positive cables under 10' (for the size of wire we supply). IE a 3' power cable + plus 5' control box kit would be fine.

So, just got my winch installed and went to unspool and then respool with the weight of the truck. Is it supposed to make random popping noises and feel hard? It’s a rope, not cable type line.

Just ordered and Evil to replace my Ramsey Pro Plus that is 22 years old but still working fine with conventional solenoids. Looks like I'll be tearing into the control box on the new one in Spring all the terminals what the electrical anti-corrosion seal and lubing up the quick connect for the fairlead pendant. Lots of salt up here in the Northeast. Have you taken a new Evo apart cuz they're adequate grease in the planet Aries and on the clutch handle or should I do some preventive maintenance. Thanks

Yup thats how the winch sits in this particular application. Most of the time the terminals on the winch will face the backside of the vehicle when the feet of the winch are facing down. That orientation doesnt matter though- what matters are that you attach each wire to the correct color.

@@Tuffmutha I used a 4 foot cable from Vice designs and a manor mount from Tandem off-road to mount it where one of the horns bolts in front of the radiator.

Hey mate, considering doing this with my warn vr evo 10, does it compromise the waterproof of the box or void the warranty at all?

The only part of the winch that's waterproof is the physical winching body itself - the control box isnt at all. Dust-resistant at best. Thats why we came out with this kit because they fill up with dirt and its the most likely reason your winch wont work when you go to use it! As for warranty they'd have to prove the modifications caused something to fail. We've had zero reported cases of this.

@VICE Design I'm installing the hidden winch mount with control box relocation on a 2020 Rebel. The winch mount kit appears to be correct, but the control box relocation that was included seems to be for the older 4th gen Ram. I cannot determine any way to locate the box near the fuse box/battery. Any tips?

curious, in the process of getting my hidden winch mount set -up, and also the relocation kit, when I mock this up, it places my winch connections for the relocation kit on the top , and not on the bottom as shown on yours? I have the evo 12s

Hey Steve - Good question. The winch orientation is different depending on what hidden winch kit you have. The 2013-2018 Ram 1500 kit shown in this video the connectors face the ground. Out 2019+ RAM 1500/Rebel kits, 2010-2018 Ram 2500/3500 Kits, and 15-18 RAM Rebel kits - the connectors face upwards. Hope that helps

Yup it will work with the 8000, 10000 or 12000 pound EVO winches in either steel or synthetic rope versions. It should also be compatible with the older generation VR winches. If you have an older one just check what style of ground connector they use - it should be a small ring terminal such as in this video

@@vicedesigninc Good deal. I was just trying to figure this out yesterday and this video popped up in my recommendations last night. Let me ask...are the gauges of the wires bumped up due to the extra length or is it not needed?

@@ninja63639 Yup they're larger and you can really feel the quality difference in the materials. The path length is actually very similar and in some cases shorter. Instead of a 6 foot power cable, and a 1 foot jumper from the control box to the winch, its a 1.5' power cable to the control box, and a 4-6 foot cable to the winch. The ground cable remains the same in both cases.

you want to Keep the large power cables out of your cab. If you want to run a winch switch in your cab you just want to run a momentary winch toggle switch with the signal wires from the control box. We'll do a video on that when we can
