HOW TO MAKE SIMPOL RELYENONG AMPALAYA

Not a big fan of bitter gourd or ampalaya? This easy, tasty recipe will definitely change your preference. Ampalaya might just end up as your new favorite vegetable. This one takes the humble vegetable and gives it a fancy twist with a stuffing of minced pork, chopped shrimp, and oyster sauce. Ready? Let’s start cooking!
INGREDIENTS:
Set A
2 pieces bitter gourd or ampalaya, cut into 1-inch thick
2 cups warm water
Salt, as needed
Set B (Meat mixture)
500 grams minced pork
3 pieces shrimp, minced
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
1 small onions, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 piece carrot, minced
Set C
Cornstarch, as needed for dredging
Cooking oil, for frying
Set D (Sauce)
1 small onion, minced
1 piece red bell pepper, julienned
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
1 cup chicken stock
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1/2 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
