I was right there with you my man. I did not have cold weather gear though so my night time experience was frozen solid lol. will be buying a hyper flex for georgia.

Oh man, no cold gear must have been brutal when stopping. I just happened to pack a wetsuit shell with hood in my bag. Saved me at 1am to 6am. How the legs feeling?

Oh man, i was freezing! I was frozen coming into the pit from my 3rd lap. I had to wait until like 5:30am until i went for my 4th lap. I felt great for that lap. Wish i had time for the 5th. My body feels good, left foot a little sore from those downhill sprints lol but over all just mad at myself for not preparing for that temp. Buying the right gear for georgia!

I am doing the toughest mudder Vegas in October. I was on the fence about getting some sort of wet suit/cold weather gear, but it sounds like it averages even colder than what was stated in this video. Any tips for someone that has never used a wet suit? Any idea how it is running in one for hours on end? I'm also not looking to drop tons of $$ on something I may only ever use once.

Christopher Congrats on signing up and hope the event goes well in Vegas. Regarding keeping warm, a 3/2mm wetsuit works best and suggest Xterra (less sewing seams) and typically good deals. Or look up lava core vest (I use in video). If you stop on course or in pits, you will get cold quickly. Get back to moving quickly and the body temp will return. Wait too long and wetsuits not going to help. Good luck and let me know if I can help any further.

Hey, good stuff! I am digging your night time run...and didn't know PA had something like that. I just signed up for the Spartan ULTRA (30 miles) up in Mountain Creek resort in New Jersey. I also just did the 10 mile tough mudder in Englishtown, New Jersey...and like you, found a way to record it. Anyway, I liked your video...thanks for sharing.

Life As John William hey if interested. I ran the Spartan Ultra a week or so before this event. Both have different aspects to the course making them challenging. Good luck and hope you finish before it gets dark.

Life As John William now one last video to watch. If you really want a punch in the giblets, watch my Worlds Toughest Mudder video. It’s both races combined and so cold. Good luck at the Super next year too. Badass race

Sweet video! I’m going to try my first one this May and trying to get people from my gym to do the Toughest with me, so far no takers 🤷‍♂️

If no one joins, just know the people on course are very friendly. I run alone and almost always end up with a similar paced person through the last half of course. Good luck and see you on course next year.

Absolute killer video! Thinking about signing up for one myself, what weekly mileage do you recommend for training for this beast? Cheers

Thank you and great question. I worked up to running a trail hilly half once a weekend and a 6 miler during the week. Wish I had done more lunges and squats rather than push distance. Good luck and hope this helps.

Love the day and night transitions. I have a Go Pro that I took last year but it ran out of battery before we were done. What’s the trick? So you just carry multiple backup batteries? Do you only turn it on sporadically? I want to be prepared this year.

Great question and one plaguing lots of people. Setup the camera (setting) to one button record. Allows pushing record button once (3 beeps) and camera recording, hold down until 4 beeps to turn off. Save SD card space and editing time when home. Plus the running portion typically not needed to edit event (unless fun natural obstacle). Also add RainX to lens to keep mud and water off. Hit me up if I can help further.

Awesome video bud! It really helped getting to see the obstacles before my Tougher Mudder and upcoming Toughest. I should note that the water was a little closer to the cage for my Cage Crawl and the hills a little higher for the Mud Mile, which made for some initial drowning and some serious digging, but at least I got the gyst of them. I do have a question regarding the sprint lap: Is it still muddy and wet enough to warrant starting out in a wetsuit, or could I get away with doing a lap or two in running clothes and then switch?
@rem6a
@rem6a 5 жыл бұрын
AllDayCubs nice work on Tougher! Regarding the sprint lap, it really comes down to each persons plans. Some want to run fast to get mileage while others chill at constant pacing. If an obstacle opens on your sprint lap and waters cold enough to put you hypothermic, you might want the wetsuit. But if running fast, you likely will overheat. Hope this helps.

Awesome video! I can't wait to do this in July! What's the spectator situation like? Would you recommend having someone come with? If so, can they setup a tent or something? Thanks for the video!
@rem6a
@rem6a 5 жыл бұрын
Tom Sula Fist that’s great news and best of luck come July. It’s a stupid tough and fun event packed together. Spectating is well setup and the pit area (where tent spots are) is an all night party. Pit people will have a great time. Do you need someone? I can’t really tell you not to bring someone but I went solo. Stopped for 2-5 min to refuel or adjust clothes and back moving. Ask anything I missed. Here to help and glad thanks for the video approval.

@@rem6a what can you bring into the pit area? I thought I read somewhere that only get a little spot on a table to use in between laps. Can you go by the tents between laps?
@rem6a
@rem6a 5 жыл бұрын
Tom Sula This event had designated pit spots (claimed by first come first served) at about 10x12’ (enough for medium tent). The course went around the pit area (everyone had to pass it). You can bring whatever you need to keep going. Microwaves are provided in a warming tent with water and coffee.

I'm doing the Las Vegas Toughest in a few weeks. Anyone know if a wetsuit is worth it? and if so a shorty with a jacket and compression sleeves or a full body?
@rem6a
@rem6a 5 жыл бұрын
Great question but lots of variables. If you plan on walking and temps drop below 60*F to 50*F a top shell (lava core) with hoodie no sleeves works great. Add windbreaker as well to help keep heat in. Anything below 50-40 a shorty works if you keep moving. Moving slow you will want a 3/2 full and possibly a hoodie. Bleggmitts an absolute must for at night to 6am. Good luck and this is my strategy from 6 Worlds Toughest and lots of 12 hr races.

Justin They had EST every lap right out of the pits. Brutal but you could opt to take the penalty loop around it.
