Right from the get-go this is FAKE. The chip does not have any antenna attached and the chip is NOT the antenna. The antenna is in the card itself and has at least 6 turns around the perimeter of the card set to a specific width apart in order to fine-tune the signal attenuation and reception and transmission of the signal and also to power the chip in order to read the information off the chip. The chip alone CANNOT do this.

I tried it. it works. used the chip at work and bought me a drink after cutting it out.... ( it may depend on the card, this was a cashapp card and worked. chip error twice, third try was a success)

That chip is complete useless as soon as it's removed from the rest of the circuitry inside the card, you won't be able to use at all.

Not necessarily some have the RFID chip on the back of them. A lot of older cards the RFID chip is seperate (it is on my card) but some newer cards the RFID is wired onto the back of the chip and pin chip. Admittedly the chip they show is the chip and pin sim which on its own is useless. But we don't get to see the back of it. So wwhilst you maybe right you could equally be wrong.

Yea the rfid antenna goes around almost the whole card. You can see it on some translucent cards.

@@daynosdr and @Spider Electron No the antenna is part of the circuit board that the RFID chip sits on. Often printed as a spiral or concertina pattern on the non component side of the board. And in internal layers if its 4 layers. or more. As the Frequency is 13.85 Mhz the wave length is about 2.1m. for a full wave or needs to be exact divisions 0.5 o.25. or multiples of that length to be correctly tuned. The use of a ground plane makes a 1/4 wave appear electrically as a half wave and 1/2 wave as a full wave. Therefore 1/4wave for 13.85mhz is about 500mm the metal foil in the card acts as a grounds plane. Granted the Ring being made in the video might not work because the chip looked like just the chip and pin sim. However the ring used to pay in the bar may not be the ring you saw being made. There's no reason the concept wouldn't work Providing you have one of the modern chips that has the RFID chip attached to the back of it. As we didn't see that in the Video it's pointless speculating

Not necessarily! On a lot of newer cards the RFID is wired on the back of the chip and pin chip. So whilst the chip and pin chip is useless on its own, without seeing the back of it theres no way to determine if the RFID chip is on the back or not. The likelyhood is that the ring being use to pay at the end isn't the one we watched being made and that that could have been an old card cut up just to show how to do it.

That is the emv chip that needs to go inside the reader. Nor really connected to NFC at least not without the antenna

Correct its the wrong chip. However modern card have the RFID tag mounted on the back of the chip and pin. In older cards it's mounted seperate and wired into an antennna that spirals around the inside of the card. With modern tech they can more than likely print the 500mm or so needed for a 1/4wave antenna on a thin multilayer board on which the RFID tag is mounted.

Yes this is true even if the contactless chip would be inside that chip it would still be missing it's antennas that goes around the card. Chip without antenna can't communicate. That's why in the video she didn't actually pay anything the reader simply didn't see it 😂

@@randomname2914 Ignoring whats legal.Way before the expiry you will be requested to insert the card to enter the pin for security and anti fraud checks. They'll then discover its a bit wide for the card slot.

Idk why they made this nfc ring cause you'd need a back up card for places that don't have tap /nfc readers. We all know once you order a new bank card the previous gets deactivated. It's a nice thought but just a thought right now.... What I need is the materials list for the - to -pole plant holder. 🤔

The chip has to be "inserted" into the device. It's the NFC antenna that needs to be pulled. So fake!

There is a rather painless way to find out whether a bare chip could work in a ring. First, you must have a credit card. Shortly before the card's expiration date, a replacement credit card will come in the mail. Before activating the new card and before the old card expires, cut up the old card, take the bare chip to a store and try to buy something. Bring cash, because I don't think that the bare chip is going to work. Shining a bright flashlight through a credit card reveals a rectangular antenna with about eight loops of wire. It might be possible to make a ring that works by embedding loops of wire into the laminated wooden ring. But connecting those antenna wires to the chip would be difficult.

This could work, if the chip wasn't cut out like that. If you dissolved the card and got out the radio transmitter wiring and put that into the ring as well, it could work. But without the wiring it couldn't power the chip to process the transactions, and send back the information required to finish processing the transaction. The outcome of this video is completely fake.

It's actually the wrong chip that chip is powered by the reader when inserted. The RFID is a seperate chip. Some modern cards do have the RFID chip mounted to the back of the chip and pin chip (The one they cut out) but the one in the video didn't look like it was one of them. However the one the used in the bar at the end might have been genuine? but it wasn't the one you watched being made.

Sorry i'm in rant mode now. These Totally Handy videos often show things that either wouldn't work, or are simply a bad idea or potentially dangerous. They are not "how to" videos they are for entertainment and wow factor. , Most of what you see has been edited and cut to death leaving out critical stages. I wouldn't advise anybody to attempt to replicate anything on this channel at home, unless they have a full understanding of what is being presented to them.

Even if the (Ring) idea would work, which it wouldn't. Being not protected anyone with a scanner could get close enough to you and steal all the cash right out of your account. Always keep your credit and bank cards that have a chip in them in a wallet that has RFID blocking otherwise there is the potential for theft.

Maybe do some research before making such strong statements as a matter of fact it does work it has worked for years this isn't the first time somebody's done something like this there two different types of RFID there's the ones that have the antennas old school building to the plastic and then there's any with RFID is which are stronger and have a miniature antenna built directly into the ship which means no wiring in the plastic we are most cards nowadays welcome to 2023
