The new pose is so much more dynamic and has so much character. I remade some of my old art recently and went through exactly the same process. It's so cool to see how you handled it, can't wait to see where you're at in another 4 years :o

Thanks bud! Yeah it's fun revisiting older work from time to time, and especially with a few years difference it's not hard to spot a few changes that make a big impact. I make a Luke Skywalker every year for this sort of thing, and now the 4-year Fett may have to be a new tradition on top of that 😅

@@BJGpixel You definitely feel like you've levelled up, right?! Nice to stop and see how much you've progressed. Showing this progress is super inspiring too! hahah yes!!! Should get to the point where there is no more new art, only redraws, like when a movie franchise is brought back haha :'D Keep killing it man

Favorite part of this is how even though both sprites are the same height from the helmet, the newer one feels taller merely due to proportion change between the torso and legs.

I always appreciate videos like this where you can see the difference between years isn't necessarily restricted to technical ability, but also intuition and stylization! I think there's a whole lesson to take away from that for art (or maybe just learning things in general!) 😁 The new sprite looks great btw - it's a great example of using a dynamic line of action! And even though the colour tones appear a little more muted in context next to the original, it's neat how it still keeps the intent as you said. I really like how the more-saturated parts look more interesting as a result of that! ✨
@BJGpixel
@BJGpixel 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! 😁 I think you're right, in general there's a balance learned after gaining experience in any craft; pulling back the saturation to have other colours pop is a good example of that (although at times I do also appreciate when every colour goes way out there too! 😅 ). Nice spot on the line of action too; there ended up being a great flow from the blaster across through the cape which happened naturally with the pose ✨

This is favorite part of my Sundays. As someone mentioned here: it's a ZEN moment watching your vids. Totally relaxing and learning at the same time. Both Fett's are cool, but new one is more badass. What's annoying me every Sunday is those few dislikes on your vids. Purely someone here is following you out of jealosity and they press dislike cuz they've got ego problem, or something else is wrong with them 🤔😁 Take care and keep it square! 🤘😄🖖

Great update with a much more interesting pose. A couple things do jump out at me as a bit odd in the final product though: Without the strong dark outline the hip pouches read as bulgy thighs. I would have no idea what they were without the original as reference. The puttees also make me think of Michael Jackson's short trousers and sparkly socks. Maybe more brown in the coloration?

I've mentioned this before, and don't mean to be critical, but there are some anatomy fundamentals you're still not really observing. He doesn't have enough torso. Even for a stylization where the legs are elongated, there still needs to be more abdomen and more trunk before the legs start. Right now there isn't enough room for his pelvis or his abdominal organs.

Hi brandon, i have a vid request. I've been into some gba sprite recently, and i found out some of their sprite got high quality texture. But it's not the same as nowadays hd sprite, the texture was all mixed up that i couldn't find the shape if look it up close. I was really amazed of how they managed to get the sprite done with that kind of confusion. They also use quite a lot of color pallette and the shading wasn't like normal style of shade. It's like they use references and try to make it as accurate as possible. Could you pls look into this and maybe make ur own sprite of it's kind? I really want to see that. Here the game that i been looking at - gundam seed destiny gba and mortal kombat deadly alliance (gba) Pls see my comment.. Looking forward for your next video
