This whole series is super impressive. I find it really hard to step away from the layer-by-layer workflow, but this looks amazing. The tree in particular is incredible
@saultoons3 жыл бұрын
Amazing! There's so much going on yet it still feels cohesive, gives the place a lot of life. It was really interesting hearing about the colour selections in the tree, not going with the obvious choice and defining those rules for yourself I think really helped that cohesion too. The way you make your videos and explain every detail is really inspirational, it's like I'm stepping inside your mind through that decision-making process and it makes me want to create something too. Absolutely perfect to watch as I eat breakfast, but definitely wishing I had a juice from this place to go with it. I wonder if they'd have any strange fruits there too... Thanks for sharing Brandon! :D
@BJGpixel3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much man! Haha yeah I wasn't quite expecting there to be much of a 'puzzle' to solve as far as the colour palette goes, but it's really rewarding once you get a good lead on those choices/logic within the artwork 😊 Had the same thought about the fruit; definitely getting a citrus vibe but something odd/otherworldly would be interesting to think about!

@@BJGpixel A nice surprise in the end for you then and a really pleasant result, these are some of my favourite colours for sure. Yeah I definitely imagine something similar to lemon and lime, but with a twist... Maybe Lemime :'D. Always excited to see these cool worlds and things you come up with! :D

Dear Brandon, I encountered your channel only today. Needless to say, I'm subscribed. I don't know how to explain how much _delight_ these videos bring me - I squealed out loud multiple times this morning, often upon seeing the final animation, but occasionally just noticing things like _oh my gosh look how he drew that TREE_ and absolutely losing my mind. I love pixel art, though I'm not very good at it myself yet. You've inspired me to possibly dive back into it in the near future. So I just wanted to offer my one word of encouragement, as a random stranger on the internet: thanks. I love you and your channel! You're a really cool person and an amazing artist. May you always have the time, motivation, and inspiration to turn your wild ideas into something you can share with the world.

this video kinda perfectly showcases the high points of your style; the vivid colors and your tendency to add a lot of details gives everything a very cozy, lived-in feeling, like these settings (especially these little storefronts) are places people frequent, and a safe happy spot to rest. combined with your narration and the calm, simple way you explain your processes, these videos feel really inviting to watch, and make these elaborate and detailed pieces feel a lot easier to break down and work through for everyone watching at home who wants to make pictures out of tiny squares, lol

The one thing I've learned from watching these video's, is that I need to separate out the different components on more layers so I don't have to keep re-drawing them.

This workflow of adding the details as you go is really enjoyable to watch. It makes the scene come alive faster and you still get the satisfying reveal at the end when everything is finished. Hope to see more of these in the near future. I'll definitely be buying a few prints for my office.

Another fine addition to my fav series here!! 😂 Lots of really cool visuals in this one! The way the tree is shaded is very satisfying and I actually really like the robot with the apron design. 😁 The cloth over these mechanical components just feels like a cool aesthetic! Also, the serene vibes feel pretty unique to this piece! I wish I could have a swirling juice reservoir on top of my room - an unlimited supply of my fav soda or something would be wonderful 😋
@BJGpixel3 жыл бұрын
😆 Thanks man, and now that I think about it the cloth/metal mix of the robot kind of echoes the mixed design of the tree as well - kind of a fitting pair! ✨ And yeah I hope rooftop reservoirs catch on in the future; could easily double as a soothing white noise skylight addition to any room hahaha

I love your work, have been watching and following your channel for almost a year now! My 3 favorite youtube channels for pixel art inspiration and learning are yours, Adam C Younis and Octavi Navarro Arts. Each one has your own style, but all of you create astonishing and beautiful pixel art! You are an inspiration to all of us, man! keep it up!

Love it. So far, all of your works have this *neatness* to them, for lack of a better term. They aren't necessarily cute, though I'm sure it plays a part in it, but rather very self-contained. Every time it's a boost of inspiration to create something that small-scale on your own. Thank you for that. You seem to really enjoy this cyberpunk-y semi-apocalyptic look - I do wonder if you'd be curious enough to explore something Fallout-related. Especially considering the sprite-based classic titles in the series.

@ThePixelExpedition3 жыл бұрын
@@BJGpixel Well it worked out wonderfully. How did you go about making your pallet? Did you just eyeball colours, or do you have a process for adjusting various values like hue and saturation to get what you want. Still learning how to make my own palettes. Any insights would be great! Thanks!
@BJGpixel3 жыл бұрын
@@ThePixelExpedition I usually start by selecting a range of greyscale values to plan out the light-to-dark ramp that way, and then blend colour on top of those values (and a final adjustment of hue/sat as desired). It's a bit convoluted, but it works out for planning your desired contrast. Here's a vid with that workflow: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpW7oYh_drmthZI For larger palettes I'm doing this same process but for different colour ramps. Hope that helps! :D

Cyberpunk and Juice-Bar, what a clash. Kind of tone deaf right? I mean Cyber Punk is typically defined by it's urban wilderness, a world so complicated and developed that the humans living in it are like animals in a habitat beyond their control, a juice bar would be such a nice thing it would stick out between the striking poverty of everything else. Skyscraper complexes with millions inside them, busy neon lit markets built from crumbling infrastructure, a trendy juice bar where people hang out and drink juice. IDK man, maybe in a rich neighborhood that isn't too different from the rich neighborhoods of today. Edit : Despite my genre geeking you've made beautiful art as always, I feel like a gain a new appreciation for color and line work when I watch your work.
