@@djlb613 if it’s a cooper s with the supercharger it’s a big fat yes from me. Even if you don’t modify the car you will probably get an extra 40bhp and you will definitely feel it’s a lot quicker

You are very lucky the battery held out ......should never ever let voltage go below 12V! Voltage stabiliser MST-90 should be used everytime

The point of the series of videos was to show people that with very little money you can remap your own car. I chose pop and bang because it can be seen and heard not like a straight forward stage 1 map which you would have to just take my word for it.

Firstly thanks for watching. My advice is take your time don’t rush and if you’re unsure double check. Use a battery stabiliser if you can’t get your hands on one use jump leads to another car this should keep your voltage over 13. And make sure you save and label your original ecu file before you do anything. Good luck 🤞

Good video, is there a chance of bricking the ECU or not as you kept the original file?

As long as you keep it simple it’s fairly safe. Always save the original file and always have a battery stabiliser on and power to your laptop it should be all good. If the new file fails just put the original back on like I did and try again. If your doing an st225 I actually priced up ecu clocks locks keys and immobiliser for £300 which isn’t to bad.

It’s not for everyone and I wouldn’t advise doing it unless you understand the financial consequences of a massive fail. I just hope it made for a good watch as I’m not keen on facing the camera lol

Did you installed any new parts in the car or just re-write the ECU?

The exhaust had a decat, full air intake system upgrade, hot and cold side silicone upgrade pipes to the turbo and an upgrade bov in the turbo. After the ecu file rewrite it made 272bhp on the dyno with massive flames and exhaust bangs.

I bought the clone V2 my self and got software from Enola in England, the car works perfectly. Was i lucky or do the professional tuners do the checksum before sending the file? Also, is it best to alway run id before read and write?

I would've also tried it with the clone version, but now it looks like I shouldn't do it, at least until I have someone on call to help in case of a need. ⛔

If your willing to learn and have the balls to do it you can use winols or one of the many different programmes to change the the values. I took the safer option and got a mapper to do it so I didn’t blow anything up

Did you make a backup of the as built configuration of the pcm before refalshing it or its not needed?

I simply let the ksuite software download the the file as is. Sent it to the mapper who sorted it for stage 1 with pops and bangs. When I received it I simply uploaded it to the ecu and as they say the rest his history. I’m no expert but I was willing to have a go at getting the file and putting a modded one back

your voltage even when the car is running shows under 11volts. thats going to cause you alot of headaches.

Yep those pop sounded very bad in very bad way like way to artificial. I have CP320 map with pops and overrun and it does not pop so easily.

I don’t pretend to know what the mappers have done but the car drives really well with that map on the power for a stage one is fast and smooth. Alas the it’s to aggressive and asbo for me but it proved that you can map your car for little money. It’s not for everyone and I understood the financial consequences if it all went wrong but I thought it made interesting content. Hope you liked it and thanks for watching and commenting 👍

I'm not quite understanding the pricing model of the legitimate KessV2 tuning software, why is it so expensive?

I don’t know myself. You would think they would restructure the pricing after the market was flooding with clones!

A Kess master cost £4000+ but it’s money we’ll spent if you’re a professional. Clones are fine for older cars but there are hundreds of horror stories out there, they won’t do anything newer than about 2016.

I was informed that fake kessv2 dosent do the checksum so has to be done with winols how true that was I can’t answer that with my knowledge but it worked in the end so I was chuffed

@@abcars2856 I’m guessing your in the uk so you probably best buying the red pcb euro version with 140 protocol. That’s the same as mine. Look on eBay for sellers who have sold loads. Ask postal Remaps who I used look in the description of this video there is a link just hit the contact seller on the item and ask them if they could do it which I’m sure they can.

It’s got nothing to do with clone kess , it’s the binary file which has maps on it. When they add and remove maps from binary file. It happens.

Mine worked fine as far as I’m aware very few have problems. As long as you hook the car up to a battery stabiliser and you have power running to your laptop then nothing serious should happen. Problems occur when people don’t follow the tutorials to the letter.

Hi guys so me and my cousin want to start going around remapping peoples cars with kess but the biggest part I’m stuck at is when it comes to the tuning. Does kess have a tuning file with it ready or do you have to get a tuning file from somewhere. Also if that is the case do you have to buy the files

The kessv2 will copy the ecu file from the car. You then edit that file with tuning software like winols or ecmtitanium. Once you have done that you then write that file back to the ecu on the car you got it from with the kessv2

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I read each one, but the main reason I did that was to show proof it can be done on a shoestring budget. I could of just pretended I had done it and just put the original file on for the video and drive the car around and said “wow this is faster”. Most would of believed me but it would of been a lie and that is definitely not me. It was over the top but it proved it can be done for little money. Thanks for watching 🙏

I think your missing the point at what I was trying to achieve. The point of the whole series was to prove that you can map your own car on a budget and save a small fortune. When I eventually got it dynod I showed how much it cost me for 1bhp. Having pops and bangs would of been another £50 if a mapper had come out to the car to do it. At the end of the day it’s car owners preference. Thanks for watching 🙏

I was just raised by a master mechanic and machinist and pops and bangs isn’t a good thing in my world. I grew up with 800hp sbc engines in late model dirt cars that run wide open for 100 laps strait if you start hearing popping and banging something bad is probably coming real soon🤣
