I wonder if they'll eventually be able to make these screens feel 90% like actual paper, there's just something about paper that makes it more pleasant to write on imo.

Remarkable ad campaign is pretty heavy but they can survive only thanks to a captive audience (those who bought their stuff) that has to pay a lot to get basic services... Too expensive for the quality of service. Onyx Boox TU is a terrific game changer.

I was that person who bought a ReMarkable 2 and THEN learned about Boox and everything else out there that is available 😅! It's good to keep spreading the word; same goes for people who think there only eReader options are Kindle or Kobo! I use to think I had to pick which ecosystem I had to get "trapped" into; then discover an android eReader like the Boox Leaf or Meebook P6 and realize you can have BOTH ecosystems, access to Libby, Scribd, Perlego, Pearson+, Moon Reader+ Pro, Marvel Unlimited, DC Universe, etc. all from one Eink screen 😁🤩

Also writing FEEL of ReMarkable 1 blew away ReMarkable 2 in my opinion haha, it was a bit slower for latency, but the plastic screen felt amaaaaaaaaaazing. With the release of Leaf 2, maybe we'll get a sunken in screened plastic enote device from Boox too, to get that better feel 😁 Doodroo screen protectors do the job for me at the moment 😅

One correction: If you use the Remarkable Pen with the Remarkable tips it does have a very paper like feel. If I use a generic pen on the RM2 it does have the writing on glass feeling of other tablets.
@goodereader Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no, the remarkable pen with the tips on the exact same tips as the one on the ultra So what is the exact same feeling Onyx, king Jim, iReader, remarkable, Hyread, boyue, bigme, Fujitsu, all 100% the exact same tips and the exact same feel

Nice review. But for me it just showed that the RM2 is probably the best to get. Reason: If you want a note taking e-ink pad, with no distractions, the Onyx just looks like it has too many options to learn. Options that aren’t really necessary for note taking. I mean, if you want general tablet functionality, then buy an iPad (or other tablet).

I have an iPad Pro and a Remarkable (1). I don't want my writing tablet to be a do-everything device. It does very well just what I want it to, and after the removal of the subscription fee, it's even more perfect. There are some very good features in the Remarkable 3.0 beta also, so it is definitely not stagnant. Totally get what you're trying to do in this comparison, but I really think it's missing the main point.

Did you actually watch the video? They showed point by point that even when it comes to writing Boox is just so far ahead it's not even close. Had the RM2 for quite some time and thought going Boox Ultra C would be a nice upgrade. It was not, I returned it after an hour of using it. The writing experience on the Boox is MUCH worse than the RM2. The way the pens and strokes behave it miles behind the natural feel of RM2. Boox also has this annoying thing that the first stroke you make always has a huge delay which is very irritating (you can see that in every review video of someone writing). Plus the Boox is much thicker and heavier than the RM2, which makes it really uncomfortable to hold one-handed. Yes it has tons of features that RM2 does not have, but what are they worth if they are unpleasant and no fun to use? RM2 is a device you love using, it feels just right.

Love your style of delivery: fast-paced but coherent; flowy and yet well structured. All in all, very valuable! That said, I believe it‘s incorrect to say (as many are) that the Remarkable forces you to subscribe in order to properly use the device. Not true according to at least one reviewer out there. Apparently you can just ignore all those requests to subscribe, and just use Dropbox and other cloud services with absolutely nothing missing in terms of functionality. Maybe worth investigating to see if that‘s right. P.S. I‘ll wait for Remarkable 3. If it at least has lights and still good battery life, and faster processing/refreshing, I‘d consider it.
