Reviewers like you are the reason KZbin shines (despite being a pretty dim place with regard to free speech). Highly informative, not self-aggrandizing in any way, candid, entertaining… Man, you just got me all on fire about a device I didn‘t even know I „need“ (haha). So much so that I‘m gonna grab one. Last time I checked the market for notetaking devices as an alternative to my iPad, I only found the Remarkable. As you pointed out, it‘s plastered all over the place! So much so that I missed out on the slew of new and better products now available, like the one you reviewed here. The only remaining question for me is: Can it also be used for reading my Kindle books? Without conversion, even? That would be a dream come true!!!

Thanks for this great video. I’ve been following this topic since the product was announced, and watched many other videos as well. I really like the concept of Tab Ultra. Finally decided to go with the Note Air 2 Plus instead of Tab Ultra mainly because of the camera bump. I doubt my use case will require a ‘document scanner’ so frequent that I have to tolerate the wobbliness of the Tab Ultra without a case. Was thinking that the Tab 10 (Chinese version, without camera) design would be more suitable (and probably cheaper as well w/o the camera). Again, please continue to make more videos on this product/ topic. Love them!

I’ve ordered one myself, will arrive Friday… but would like you to do an in-depth review of the handwriting experience, particularly the AI handwriting to text feature. I have a Boox Max Lumi 2 and it really needs a lot more polish… you do some handwriting, hit AI and then after it converts to text … you can reflow it or adjust the text with the original button but then there seems to be no way to copy the altered text back to the original page with the handwriting , cause basically you want to replace the handwriting with the text… you can do it but it takes a ALOT of steps.. and since the Tab Ultra uses the same notes app, it will have the same issues… BOOX needs to fix this…

I ordered the Boox Tab Ulta the other day, after having checked reviews on your and other sites. Unfortunately, for anybody who intends to use the device for handwritten note taking, i would recommend to look for another device. The handwiting conversion on the Boox Tab Ultra under firmware 3.3.2 is unusable, as there are too many severe bugs. a) When converting handwritten notes. words are not converted but entirely deleted. I assume these are words, that were not recognized, how ever I would prefer to see missspelled words that are tracked by a spell checker, than having words ommited. b) The reflow function simply seem not to do work. Using the Reflow Button, i would assume that lines should be combined to create a continuous paragraph. Instead, line breaks still occure where they occore i the hand written text. Occasionally, two lines are get combined into one, but i have no idea what the rules for this are. In addition, there no obvious way to get the converted text back into the original page. c) The function labelled "Original" is flawed as well, the result is a mess with individual words printed in various font sizes , and there seems to be no option to transfer the text back to the original page as well. d) Insert text does what it is supposed to do, but unfortunately places the converted text on the same layer directly on top of the handwitten text. Good luck selecting the handwritten text to delete it. Once can create an empty layer prior to textconversion, in that case the converted text is placed on this new Layer. All of this is a shame, as the overall experience with the device is as expected, the device is snappy, the handwriting experience is pleasant and the build quality is good as well.

I read documents a lot and I am getting old. So, I have always been looking for a e-reader. However, e-readers have limited functions. Until I found Boox products. The combination of e-ink screen and android OS is powerful, allowing me to read many documents on my google drive, check emails, and take handwriting notes. I owned Boox Lumi2, but I found the Tab Untra is even more powerful with the keyboard. I love the keyboard because it is has a direct physical connection with the tab (not like the Bluetooth keyboard which is slow and takes lot of battery power). I also like the case that support the tab. If anything for improvement, I would suggest to enable a shallow angle for a portray orientation. Initially, I found the unit rejects Google Chrome browser, but later on, the issue went away. It is important to keep the native Android functionalities. The CPU is power and the screen refresh is fast. This makes the unit a good replacement for all other tablets. I bought this unit to function as a small computer and to protect my eyes. I will look for even more powerful units in the future and even better refresh speed. Great product!

You actually forget you would need a proper cpu for a proper new laptop. This device, i assume, ithas a Snapdragon 662. For a laptop, I would hope for 3 times or at least 2.25 times that (something down the road of an intel N5015, N6005 or a Rockship RK3588) And 4Gb is also not worth it for a laptop. And NVMe SSD would be best. If you don't mind black/white e-ink (i'm still waiting for color e-ink), you could get an hdmi 13.3" BOOX mira monitor. And a minipc... And since you might care more about the powerconsumption than the perfomance, perhaps an Intel N6000 (x86) (6W) rather than the other two intel processors. A Rockship RK3588 (arm) (4-6W) would be great but you should know that it's still not in mainline linux kernel (perhaps next year). Toptop M6 and Rock 5B board (respectively) have m.2 NVMe slot. A powerbank with 12V3 usbc PD outout for the N5105 and N6005 (and the 12V3A usbc cable as well)

How much memory can you add with the Micro SD card? Is there a limit?

2TB

@@pontifexinstitute Thanks. Actually, I did some research and ended up buying a 1TB SD card, which works great. It seems that the 2TB SD card is theoretical, and no one makes it. There are some offered on Amazon, but it seems they are scams.

Give it color and a sim card and we'll talk. If nothing else I've gotten way too used to reading on a device where I can google or translate something in a book.....

Agree, but also with "just" a sim-card (or e-sim) I would buy one. Great productivity tool for when I'm traveling... But to also carry a 4G modem, or drain the phones battery while sharing internet, kind of kills the purpose of carrying an E-ink device with long battery life.
