One thing to say about Odyssey is that, yeah, it’s sneaky but also there is a ton of stuff you can do when it’s presented as VR for the guests, like going underwater, etc. the bit where the world is upside is literally upside down - landscaped like a massive cylinder where the ground is on the max level and all the trees are on the underside (hence it’s night). It was fun :-) 🤩

Using coaster track as supports is inspired and I love it. Really makes it look like the ground itself twisted the Coaster together.

There are really nice gardens, fountains, vista points, inviting paths, and places for people to stop. The rides are great, and there are many exciting surprises to discover.

To defend his "virtual" ride, I would say that the reason all of this is a 'mini' park contest is the overall consumption of time and this ride managed to save time for the channel as well as the lags.
@siralanscoastercreations51632 жыл бұрын
I think I know what you mean. Although Jonny’s (and some others) first reaction is that it’s a cheat to get a coaster in, that’s not the primary intention. In real life, how would you have a coaster underwater or in fire? You can’t. But you can do it virtually - the only way to achieve this in Planco, without a new VR ride, is the robot arm and a screen. And to be fair, you still couldn’t achieve the same output even if this was a mega park because that VR spans four parks ;-)

I’m not a big fan of sci-fi but appreciate creators who make it & make it well, but love nature & elements. I really appreciate how you mashed up the elements with sci-if. They married quite well in this park creation. I love your ingenuity and I will pester you in not stopping creating in PlanCo until I see you next to Bughuul, Kitch, Galcian, Tommy & other amazing Legends in our community. Jonny wasn’t the only one to think we were gonna be going up or down those spiral tracks - I’m glad we didn’t! 😅 Using track as decor should be used more - it’s brilliant & saves on piece count as the great JRTinman showed us years ago. Also while people maybe debate the VR ride, I again applaud the creativity & thought into this experience. Damn this park has me going back to the drawing board with my Top 5 - outstanding job! 👏 ☮️ & ❤️ - SmilingOma333 😃

Love this. Tbh I don't really understand the 'elemental' backstory, but the art design is fantastic. Coasters could use more refinement, smoother transitions, and not smash into the stations at 60 mph, but I would say a top 5 park so far

@@akaSUPERMAN agree - Plancos excitement rating can be a bit frustrating. For instance, on the Aquifer ride, I deliberately had a slow moving beginning to take in the scenery but it is penalised on the stats… the only ride I really took the stats seriously was Aeolus - made a lot of coasters in my time and wanted this particular one to be the goal of max excitement rating I could achieve. Which was tricky and did include slamming the guests at the end 😂

Im going to be the Devil’s advocate here and share my harsh criticism only because I think it will help push Sir Alan from great to legendary. Please dont take it personal. Everyone has their own criteria and perspective for how they judge these parks. For me, the single most important thing in these mini parks is maintaining the suspense of disbelief of realism. What I mean by that is being able to create something so crazy and unique and epic but still grounding it in realism so you can look at it and say “if I had all the money in the world, I could build this.” I think that was the biggest thing your park was missing. It didnt feel like a theme park. It was sort of all over the place, I struggled to see the overarching theme shine through. I didnt like that on each coaster you used drive tires and launches as a crutch to keep extending your layout in random directions - the layouts didnt feel very planned, they just felt sort of jank. The VR idea was BRILLIANT but I still think you could have dressed it up better. The pathing was probably the weakest point. No plazas, entrances randomly everywhere, Jonny didnt even walk around half the time, he just jumped from point to point because the pathways didnt make sense. I think if you can take your ingenuity and just keep that realism in the back of your mind for next time, you can create just as epic of a creation as this but elevate it to legendary status. Cheers, enjoyed watching this one!
@siralanscoastercreations51632 жыл бұрын
Thanks - I always welcome valid critique, especially from a legend ;-) When working on something, it can be hard to consider exactly how someone else would see it. For instance - hadn’t occurred to me that Jonny would see the spiralling track and think that the ride would go down it... which is obvious really but when something’s built up gradually, things get taken for granted so it’s good to have this feedback. Is it that these connecting paths need more space and width so it’s far more obvious where to go/harder to miss? And that the entrances were kinda small? E.g. Aeolus entrance had a sign in that corner of the central building but wasn’t a big enough deal and would be nicer if there was a big path up to it and the entire entrance is on its own? Thanks again
@maxbos66592 жыл бұрын
Allright final thoughts loved all the details. The architecure was great. Allthough im not a huge fan off the paths in the building being above the floor instead of in it. And i think the coasters could use some better smoothing and maybe a bit of shaping. Allthough the endings off the coasters where a bit abrupt still well done.
@siralanscoastercreations51632 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. I had a lot of trouble on smoothing inversions. Planco’s tools work great on long sweeping sections but not on fine changes in direction and had to keep tweaking manually to get it to work and manage forces. The abrupt finish on Aeolus is purely because I wanted to get the maximum excitement value I could for that ride and a trick is to keep a high speed into the station to add even more excitement. The other two were about numbers so they calmly return to the station 😋
@maxbos66592 жыл бұрын
@@siralanscoastercreations5163 yeah all i can say is that getting all green stats really doesn't matter imo😂 its more about shaping and the overall layout. And yeah im more about realistic coasters but having a normal breakrun is already more then enough for me😂 if u ever need tips with smoothing u can ask me in discord😉

I have mixed feelings about that "video coaster"... On one side it's very impressive, but on the other, isn't it kind of missing the point of a dark ride and a mini-park?
