Remco Evenepoel is set to make his Tour de France debut in 2024 and add some more drama to the already superstar-filled peloton. But as days go by, the odds are more and more in his favor, with one of the race directors claiming Remco is about to dominate the upcoming Tour. But what does Remco have that makes even race organizers think he could claim the yellow jersey? And can he actually do it?

If im fully honest, I dont think Remco can win the Tour unless Vingegaard and Pogačar are injured or ill.

I definitely don't see him winning but he's also young enough that he can make a huge improvement in one off-season. I do however think that if he were as good as Jonas or Pogo, his team wouldn't be up to the task of helping him win

Christian Preudhomme words on Remco's X-factor was that he is unpredictable and can stir things up. There was nothing in his statement that suggested he would win the tour. Like no other he can shine and do incredible Remco things without aming for GC. All the calculated dosage and strategies don't become him. Let him race every second stage like a day race, and he will gather astonishing results. That is his X-factor. He has everything to become a Valverde type rider. But I can't blame him to give it another shot with an ideal preparation.

Just look at the profile of the stages in the last week! Remco can't compete in the high mountains. He will go stage hunting, just like he did in the Vuelta.

He can win… but a Tour-focused Pogačar and especially Vingegaard are putting out w/kg numbers that Remco hasn’t hit yet in races. Vingegaard was holding 7.8w/kg on the uphills in that Stage 16 TT this year. Freakish-Tadej maxed at 7.1w/kg. We’ll see what Remco can do-he’s still very young and his body is still growing stronger.

remco said himself he is aiming for a top 5 finish which imo is a very realistic goal. theres no real evidence he can beat even roglic (assuming he doesnt crash) in a GT, let alone the two winning machines jonas and pog. still, remco has already very impressive palmares (b2b LBL, vuelta GC, world champion jerseys) and imo he doesnt even need to be a GT winning machine to be a great rider.

i feel llike remco is an insane mix between power and incredible endurance! but when you have a lighter and even more endurant Vingergaard, I dont think you can pull it off...

He does not stand a chance to win he is all hype. Why is he a favorite beats me. Even his boss Lefereve has said he cannot see him winning. He will not even crack the top 10

This does not make sense, he's definitely top 5 material but he'll have to measure his efforts and be careful. His sprint is above Jonas and very balanced relative to roglic and pogacar, if he is very cautious he can ride a discrete 2 week and then see what he can do at third week, at this point it should be obvious that grand tours are all about surviving first 2 weeks and attack for the win at the 3rd week.

I’m not sure he wins, but he is enough of a contender that he will light up the race for sure. Everybody has to watch out for the others.

Great rider, but I don't think he can win the Tour. We'll see, but the repeated long climbs are what he'll have a hard time with. He'll need to lose some pounds, and Jonas won't. We know what he can do in race after race in the mountains. What about Primoz?

Time and experience will be Remco's friends. He must learn to take advantage of riding on a strong team and know his limitations, otherwise he will run out of energy, the Tour is a tough race.

So Tadej couldn't beat Jonas in the last two tours. And now by the looks of it UAE is throwing everything and the kitchen sink after next years tour sending four potential co-captains to both the giro and the tour. And without knowing Vismas tdf squad, other than Kuss and Jonas is going to be there and it is going to be Wout-less, they still have a pretty deep depth chart other team would kill for. Remco who has never proven himself over three weeks against the likes of Jonas and Tadej, is the favourite to win the potential hardest tour in how long. Child please. The harder the week 3 the bigger Jonas is as a the favourite. It is only the gravel stage that I really fear because of the unpredictability. You can't win the tour that day but you can potential lose it. I am looking forward to it and hopes it is spectacular, but I also really hope it doesn't take out any GC contenders.

Honestly ... from BE ... as I would love to see him take the victory, I don't really think it will happen. What I do expect, is him making the race exciting, just like he did after his Vuelta off-day. I don't even care about him winning, just looking at what he does in Liège, WCs, doing Remco stuff ... That's enough fun for me. We Belgians do indeed put too much pressure on him. And on another field, I would love to see Lotte Kopecky become Olympic Champion on the track and on the road. Speaking of an athlete!

He doesn't have the team to Win, nor the experience. Maybe in a couple of years! Bora, UAE and Jumbo are stacked with seasoned vets who have already won The Tour several times and are into their prime. He couldn't of picked a harder time to make his Tour debut.
