I enjoyed every title in the Homefront series. Each had their own charm. Mixing a little open world combat with run and gun action dabbled with some basic RPG leveling and unlocks for new tech gear or upgrades to weapons. I find it satisfying to be the underdog and have to slowly take over sectors one by one, and as you progress you can actually see real evidence of change. As some areas devolve into open anarchy and chaos due to your actions. So the world is evolving based upon your actions. I am not saying it is the best game of all time. And it has its shortcomings and bugs at times. But overall, I find it a very satisfying game I still spool up now and then for some basic fun.

Hilarious video, you pretty much nailed this game to a tee; a mostly nonsensical story with bland characters, but has surprisingly solid gameplay minus occasional bugs. The gun-swapping system, while silly, is so satisfying to use while on the run, so is making pipe-bombs and Molotov's. It's one of the few games that really makes you feel like you're an underground revolutionary fighter, rather than a friggin unstoppable terminator. The game just needs more guns, more vehicles, some RC drones and the ability to shoot down some airships and it'd be perfect.

Its not nostlagia, I literally just started playing the game again a few days ago and finished it today. The game is actually great and has great potential, the only problem is the lack of action in between missions but thats up to you. Personally I would just do only missions and not focus on capturing the Strategic points. The game has a great story, if they made a remake with the same story but longer and a different end, better gunplay and graphisms. Cause remember this game wasnt made in 2024 so ofc compared to games nowadays it sucks. But its in fact enjoyable.

Short version: Get it while it's on special for 20$ maximum. Don't expect the most polished game, a good story or anything resembling originality. The game's at it's best when you're avoiding airship spotlights, hiding from patrols or looking for a way into an enemy outpost with no bugs ruining it. Long version: Having played it, it is and isn't underrated. No one has really done "urban Far Cry" better (including the better polished but not all that urban Far Cry 6), you can enter quite a few buildings, hide behind civilians realistically and use trash bins and outdoor toilets to hide in. But at the same time the game can get really buggy and the story is absolute shit. It's not as bad as the original Homefront but that's not saying much. If you don't care about the story and can go without facepalming, dying from laughter or facepalming to while dying of laughter at the fact the rebels nickname for North Koreans is "norks" then Homefront: The Revolution is an okay time waster. It's good for when you don't want to break out the good stuff to play. There's also a few really weird gameplay decisions like how switching weapons works and again, the game can get really buggy. Also, how taking over outposts works is pretty weird. In Far Cry 3 you kill all the guards and your allies take over, in Homefront: The Revolution you complete a specific objective, but while some cases make sense others are really arbitary and weird. How is find radios and tuning into a different station supposed to help or a requirement to take over an empty building? The devs couldn't think of a better objective, that's how.

This was a fun game. Especially if you are more of a single player. Stories had weakness, but the different environments and gear leveling made it one that I have actually played through twice.

I never understood the hate this got. I pre-ordered this as a birthday present to myself since I knew I was getting a PS4 for my birthday and I figured this would be the closest thing to Freedom Fighters 2 we would get for a while. (Unfortunately I was right) Sure it was nothing special but IMO nit being anything special doesn't deserve anything close to the hate this got

The biggest issue I had in the early days was the game freezing for a few seconds during autosaves. Annoying certainly but hardly game breaking. The other times I thought I hit major bugs usually turned out to be me having not checked the area thoroughly enough so I had missed something I needed to reach my destination.

"I never understood the hate...." my man, let me give you a bit of advice. If you dont "understand" somethin, then ask questions and do "RESEARCH" there and you'll understand why this game got a "justifiably" bad reputation and is because the bugs surrounding the game. Look man you liked it thats fine i could care less if you enjoy playing with a turd nugget on the game, thats your problem not ours. My issue with this statement is that you said this as if we dint have a right to protest against the game, well YAAA and one of the main reasons was because of how broken it was not to mention the state that it was release on consoles. dude think about it.
@roguerifter9724
@roguerifter9724 Жыл бұрын
That's something that drives me crazy about a lot of gamers any more how few technical issues it takes for a game to be written off as broken, Was it technically perfect? No but the occasional issue which other then the few seconds of freezing while saving were rare doesn't make a game broken.
@christiamcruz7454
@christiamcruz7454 Жыл бұрын
@@roguerifter9724 dude we complained when the game doesn't work how is supposed to be i'm not even gonna to explain the whole story because you should've taken your precious time to do the research as to check out on some of its gamebreaking issues that plagued the game entirely not to mention its frame rate issues that suffer on the console ports. It wasn't smaller bugs that surrounded the game, it was game breaking bugs that were there when they came out like game crashes, froze, screen tering, bad AI, enemys disappearing, cars getting stuck constantly, getting caugh on terrain, this game unfortunately it was one of the worst games that came in 2016 because of how unoptimized it was you clown. And if you dont belive me just check out on digital Foundry's take on the game and see that THEY even said that the game wasn't ready to be released.

Way ago not calling out your "lovely" game's flaws and then cry about it like a big baby👶 on people complaining about it because we justifiably were angry because it was broken at release you fanboy. Grow up 💩 and maybe you can just see the bigger picture on the reasons why this got a bad reputation by you not simping on this title all the time. PS - so this is your favorite game of all? Who cares congratulations would like a trophy for being the biggest fanboy of all and crying about it for people calling out a game's flaws so that in the future we can avoid broken releases? I can't help but respect Dambusters for even completing this game considering all the crap they went through - including THQ going under during development. I had fun with this game, and as an added bonus you can unlock Timesplitters 2 which is pretty damn cool. Not a classic by any means, but an okay game that was very harshly recieved, in my opinion.
