Why cannot Bungie replicate this depth of storytelling in Destiny 2!? It doesn't make sense!

It actually does make sense, but it doesn’t make it any less infuriating. Since Activision left, Bungie has less people and resources. Some of Bungie’s writers might’ve had to be reassigned to programming roles, which means a less developed story.

Damn, I'd forgotten how good it was to have story missions that led to strikes, and strikes that continue the story. @not.skywalker4 жыл бұрын
So you seem a bit confused about the story in D2 atm, which is understandable. The seasons do tie together like bungie says, and once you realize what’s going on it’s a bit more clear. At the end of shadowkeep, we get the unknown artifact. This sends a signal to the black garden, which we go and investigate (garden of salvation). We kill the raid boss and find where the artifact was signaling to, which in turn upsets the garden vex, causing them to assault the moon. We end these assaults by eventually killing the undying mind for a final time, however doing so breaks time on mercury. We begin using the sundial to fix the timeline, but what remains of the red legion sees this as an opportunity to redo the actions of the red war, so they can win. We stop them and bring back saint-14, trials starts again, etc... Once the red legion realizes they failed to reset the timeline, they pull one last card and set the almighty adrift on course to destroy the city and damage the traveler. In response we team up with Rasputin to help destroy the almighty and save the city. While all of this is going on, the pyramids/darkness are still on approach, which is clearly shown in the Io bunker map. According to bungie, next season everything will lead up to the arrival of the first pyramids, which finally will tie into whatever big content we get this fall (likely a large DLC and not D3). Hope this clears any confusion up! :)

VJMPX That's fair, it just feels put together in such a haphazard fashion and only connect because bungie forced them to and doesn't feel as natural as something like malok rising as a next taken king or even how taken king connects to forsaken. These seasons, (while they do connect) aren't done well in at least my opinion. But I understand if you disagree.

Bungie said that the seasons would have a connected story. Please tell me how this years story is connected. It is basically hive on moon then vex invade for some reason then cabal invade mercury, then cabal hijack the almighty and soon siva will be introduced. None of this makes any sense

There was a connected story because there were constant content droughts and people were unhappy. The Seasonal systems in D2 in my opinion are far better conceptually but fall short in its execution. There were basically 3 updates for TTK. Festival of the Cost, Dawning, and April Update.
@madimot4 жыл бұрын
Pyramid shows up on moon. We get inside pyramid. We find artifact thingy that leads us to the Black Garden. We invade the Black Garden in Garden of Salvation. The Vex are understandably upset about this and stage a counter-attack, the Vex Offensive, which leads to us killing the Undying Mind. Messing with time like this makes the Infinite Forest freak out, and while Osiris is distracted, the Red Legion take over his Sundial. We kill the three Psion Flayer sisters leading the operation and stop the Cabal. The Red Legion then stage a last ditch effort to get back at us, planning to use the Almighty to destroy the Last City and probably the entire Earth as a bonus. The Red Legion's actions here are likely led by Amtec, the fourth Psion Flayer sister who wants revenge for her sisters after the events of the Sundial. The Guardians' plan to prevent the Almighty's crash is to use Rasputin, and Rasputin's connection to SIVA then leads us there.

That’s one thing I miss (and I’m sure everyone else) challenging missions but fun ones where you NEED to communicate and have a strategy. The follow-up to TTK was pretty damn good in general. Malok is great example- however the fact that many of the Taken were trying to claim the throne afterward was the most interesting thing. I kinda wish/hope the Taken would have maintained their own identity separate from Hive control after Oryx. They could still try this with Quoria possibly betraying Savathun. That would be the plot-twist of the century.

I heard “saynotorage” say we shouldn’t complain about the content. D2 has more content than d1 with the seasons and that we are just spoiled. I say no to this statement. Sure we may have more content, but what’s the wealth of content mean if it’s all garbage and exactly the same as everything else. The loot pools are always the same, exotics hardly feel exotic anymore say for the new heir apparent, and overall activities haven’t changed significantly since forsaken. Another thing I hate, I absolutely hate, is the inconsistency between the story portions. Bungie needs to stop leaving cliffhangers for everything and finish one fucking story in game. Not through fucking lore tabs.

Who remembers killing malok for the cool taken sword I remember that. How does a legendary sword from destiny 1 has better design then some weapons in d2.The world will never know

I remember that sword, and the shotgun and armor. Taken armor was the coolest.

NovemberHotel, I completely disagree with you: it is my god given right to do so and because you said I could. Ummm.. I'm not disagreeing with you on anything in this video though. Great job as always. Anxiously waiting for more D1 gameplay but am very happy to see your continued talk about the story :)

Bungie: Got it! You want more strikes as story missions. We are happy to announce that, starting in season 12, all story will be told through strikes.

I think some players need destiny 2's season story explained to them better since in destiny 1 the story was told and explained the whys and stuff, but in destiny 2 you need to pay more attention to detail to understand what's happening and how it's connected.

If some don’t know Malok is the nightfall strike for this week for D1!

If the plot of the current season was part of the vanilla story, with a couple of strikes, quests and story missions to continue the story, I think the vanilla story would have been better, same thing with the season of dawn, it should have been part of the curse of osiris expansion, and the season of undying could have easily been another DLC, where we go back to the black garden to defeat another threat similar to the heart of darkness in D1.

Good strike, but I don’t think anything will ever be able to beat sepiks prime, the first time. During D1 beta. Those where such fun days.

Prince Malok and Alak-Hul are drinking buddies. I see them every Friday night at Archon Forge with Cayde.

I really wish Bungie would at least do quests like this instead of hiding the entire story behind lore tabs

I remember when each boss battle felt so cool at the end. They weren't COMPLETE pushovers, although some were easier than others. It use to feel so intense. Now that same intensity is locked behind fireteam matchmaking, which is just annoying. I don't know anyone who wants to run through legend NFs for plain old fun.

I think that Nokris comes close to Malok in terms of character. Nokris is the disowned son of Oryx, cast aside and shunned by his kin for his lack of strength and his obsession with Necromancy, heresy to the Hive. But while Nokris was not as strong as his brother, Crota, he made up for it in cunning and intelligence. His hunger for knowledge drove him to seek communion with Xol, Will of Thousands, one of the Worm gods. Like Nokris, Xol was the weakest of his kin, but harboured the secrets of life and death. Like Oryx before him, Nokris made a pact with the Worm god. In exchange for his servitude, Xol granted Nokris the secrets of Necromancy, and was wiped from history by Oryx. Nokris had the potential to be a cool antagonist, and major player in the Destiny universe, but Warmind scrubbed his potential. But at least his story continues in Season of Arrivals, which is acr connected to Shadowkeep unlike the last two seasons.
