Remember when I found prison letters in a $3,000 desk I got on FBMP?! MCM Furniture Flip!

Here’s how I did it!
+ sanded off the finish on all with 120 grit
+ Mixed oxalic acid with hot water, apply to surface & waited for it to dry
+ neutralized surface with borax water solution Reapply as needed. Neutralized with borax water solution.
+ applied wood glue to fix floppy veneer
+ used epoxy putty to fix in any areas of chipped veneer, sanded down with 120 grit once it was dry
+ applied hemp oil to every part of the dresser that had veneer
+ wiped off excess with lint free cloth (takes 30 days to fully cure!)
+ prayed old hardware with metallic gold spray paint
+ applied soft wax in clear to drawer slides for them to glide better

These make me think of my grandparents old house they had when I was very young. It was built in the late 50's, early 60's....this furniture was made to fill up the nearly overwhelming space of that house. LoL What was at the time an average middle class home today would be considered luxury homes only the wealthy can afford and the former type of owners now pay $2500/Mom RENT for a shoebox and a shared bathroom...

Fantastic! I love watching your transformations.💕 You make it look so easy but I know it's alot of work. I remember my boss had a small dining table in our office. When we moved office, I thought my boss would dump it. Someone painted it with black paint and it was faded and had all these scratches and dents on it. It was nasty. He asked me if I knew someone that could refresh it. He paid my friend to do it. He removed the nasty paint, sanded and add added oil (?) to the finish. Under the paint was this gorgeous wood grain table. It didn't even look like the same table. 😂

Using oxalic acid is advanced technique - wow. It seems that plain old laundry bleach would do the trick without having to neutralise the wood. What about this case! Nice to know those who diy!

When I was a kid, my parents were antiquers, so me being 7yrs old at the time, and because of them dragging us around, we grew up with an appreciation for antiques. At 15 I bet I knew more about furniture and collectibles that the non believers here. It's not fake to be 20ish and love antiques.
