I grew up religiously watching the dukes of hazard. To this day my favorite show. It came back on when I was in middle school and I would pretend to be sick so I could stay home to watch it. I’m now 47. I’ll say this , I never cried when my dad died even though I loved him dearly. I shed a tear when Roscoe P. Caltrain died.

I've been a James Best fan since 1979. He will be best remembered as Rosco P. Coltrane but I have seen many other roles that he played. He starred in my favorite Bonanza episode 'The Price of Salt'. He was a great actor.

Mom took me to see them in Hazard Kentucky. The Dukes of Hazard made my childhood so much fun. Kids today just don't know what's it's like to have a daily tv program to watch with family values and that's entertaining.

I always enjoyed watching his antics as Rosco. Easy to tell that he enjoyed playing the role to a hilt!: "ENOS, you dipstick! Gi-Gi-Gi-Gi-Gida----now git after em!". "Now Boss, uh don't you worry none; my little fat buddy---Gi-Gi-Gi---we'll catch them Dukes!" He really helped make this show so much fun to watch. May God rest James in peace.

He actually lived just about 15-20 minutes away from my house in NC. A co worker of mine was a neighbor and met he him often before his health got bad, and she said he was so funny, humble and didn't act like anyone famous.

From his very first films at the beginning of the 1950's James Best's individual amazing talent stood out, he was brilliant in every single role he played, I cannot ever recall any other actor where I could say "He reminds me of James Best" and I have been watching films from the early 1940's.

I'm glad I got to meet James best in Hickory North Carolina in a play called On Golden Pond I got to talk to him for a few minutes and got his autograph and a few pictures April 2014 almost a year later he passes away God bless thank you for all the entertaining movies and the Dukes of Hazzard my Southern brother seems to me a really good person

+sylmarmusic2012 You really should watch the show. James Best was really funny on the show. He said in an interview that the way he said he was in hot pursuit with that laugh he got from when his daughters were kids he would tell them he was in hot pursuit of them and laugh like that, and he did that for the producers of the show, because he had to come up with something unique. He did that, and they signed him on the spot to play Rosco.
