I was 4 yrs old, and we had a resaca behind us to absorb the rising water so we didn't get flooded. My Dad was at the Union Carbide plant where he was assistant plant manager. My Mom was manning a ham radio to keep in contact with him. Dad came racing home early morning, woke my brother and I up to see the eye come over with shining stars in the sky. It was beautiful calm that we watched for about 5 minutes, then Dad rushed us into the house, nailed the plywood back over the front door, the storm raged back on with even more intensity. We were very lucky. I'm 61 now, and I'll never forget Hurricane Beulah.

I remember being in third grade when the storm came. We lived in Mission, Tx. I remember my aunt and her family coming to stay with us from Edinburg. It rained so much and lots of trees fell down. After it was over we had to clean up. It took lots of time and there was no school. Best part was camping out in the living room with my cousins.

I went to Flour Bluff Elementary at the time Beulah hit. We evacuated from our home and wound up in the school cafeteria. Hot dogs and beans for 2 days. Good times! I was 12 years old at the time.

I still remember it even though hurricane Beulah was 5.3 decades ago in 1967 even though I was only 4 at the time. I especially remember afterwards that I played with worms in front yard near our Shely Street in Corpus Christi from all that water we had from flood. I even kept worms in a jar. This was an interesting documentary about hurricane Beulah from 1967, but it would have been even more interesting to have viewed & listened to the hurricane warning weather bulletin that appeared on television few hours prior to hurricane Beulah's landfall.
