You have embraced his principles and taken them to heart. Although he was always frustrated in my inability to fully absorb his teachings, he still programed a strong , efficient structure in me, and took an awkward, spazzy punk with an chip on his shoulder, and taught me my right from my left, as well as a right from wrong, a healthy awareness of the world around me, and how to treat people properly. Not to mention poker, Pool ("You don't play pool, Cory. You shoot pool."), stunt driving, and a million other things. It's too bad many people couldn't experience his skill in person ("The Sensing. The Sensing."), as you had to feel his skill in person to really understand how effed you truly were against him. I miss him brow beating me unto the wee hours of the morning. Blessings, Adam. Am sorry it took me so long to see this. Thank you for bringing his memory to so many people who never met him, or even knew he existed. Ed lives on in you.

I've read so many books about Bruce where James Demile and Jesse Glover got a lot of mention and of course Dan Inosanto, but nothing or very little about Ed Hart. Actually it was a video about Demile where he mentioned Ed's "Deadly Hands" that I looked around and found this. This video really got to me about Ed. I would have expected a transcendence from Ed if he were a Buddhist but am surprised he became calm and peaceful through martial arts. Of course he had his near death experience and that would change most. I am grateful to still find out aspects about Bruce's life and the people he touched and influenced and vice versa. Even with those short 33 years he lived there are still anecdotes coming out of the woodwork surrounding his life. Very moving

I have probably listened to this about a dozen times. I would have loved to have known him.

@adamchankungfu Mahalo for talking about Ed. He was always nice to me and along with Jesse, taught me the basics as a kid over in Jesse's apartment. I make sure to pay my respects to both Ed and Jesse and John Saxon along with Sijo Bruce and Brandon when I'm up at the cemetary. In a way, I wish I had a more "adult" relationship with them back then as your memories and stories are much more in depth than mine.

Ed was nearly 20 years older than Bruce. I think the pool hall incident really shows the difference in maturity lol.

Great story about Bruce and Jesse ducking under the pool table, while Ed took care of business. Interesting to note that this incident rubbed off on Bruce for according to Seattle student Skip Ellsworth, he would accompany Bruce to bars, pool halls, and other shady places to look for fights.

It's good and important to speak about these guys. Time dissolves everything, but the memory of Great people like Ed and Jesse should live on, and does indeed live on via their family, their students, and these types of discussions. Thanks for sharing Adam and thanks Chris for your efforts and work. Good friend / student you got there Adam.

Wonderful story of Ed Hard, I had read in general culture about some boxers from the old era to compare them with current boxers, but nothing like this, the best anecdotes are known by those who were close and shared with these great masters. Ed had great humility and gave more than he received. Excellent video, thanks for sharing.👍👍👍
