Sad to hear and difficult to listen to but hugely impactful not only as a basketball player but even more so as a human being. Gave back of his time and energy to all aspects of his life, family, friends both publicly and privately. Will never be forgotten for his efforts from a UNC fan perspective both on and off the court. An inspiration that will continue in not only my life but many others as well. Thoughts and prayers to not only his family but to all those he inspired and continue to do so...

Eric Montrose embodies the epitome of what every college athlete should aspire to be, transcending not only at UNC but universally. It hit close to home as Eric and I are close to the same age. From March to December, he and his family transitioned from envisioning a shared future to grappling with the heartbreaking reality of discussing his life in the past tense. This is a pivotal moment for collective action. It falls upon all of us to ensure that the legacy of Eric Montross endures, supporting the causes and passions that fueled his spirit. It is our duty to expand upon what Eric held dear, echoing his selfless approach that prioritized UNC Basketball over personal acclaim. As my heart aches for his grieving family, I pledge to champion the ideals he believed in, working tirelessly to guarantee that the legacy of Eric Montross perseveres and resonates for generations to come. Go Heels and rest easy Big Grits.

To the family of UNC basketball Great, Eric Montross, and the UNC family in Chapel-Hill, I would like to extend a heartfelt expression of sorrow for your loss. Your loss is the world's loss. A gentle giant of a human being, and ferocious post player on the interior for the Heels, leading UNC to the National Championship, his greatness extended far beyond the basketball court and the University of NC Chapel Hill. His charitable endeavors made such an impact in so many lives, our hearts are burdened today. So thankful for the years we got to see Mr. Montross flourish in school and afterwards, it's hard to say goodbye. But, heaven got a great one today. This we know!

Very sad. I grew up in Virginia when he was playing. I did not like North Carolina teams lol. But Eric was piece of my teenage years. Sorry to hear that he passed. Rest in peace Eric. And much comfort to his family and friends.
