It was a pleasure to meet you this past weekend. Thank you for sharing your story. I’m one of Richard Whiting’s sisters. It meant so much to me to talk with one of my brother’s classmates.

I am sorry that you experienced abuse from American citizens after you served in Vietnam. What the Vietnam vets experienced when they came home was horrible. You all deserved a heroes welcome. I do not know if you knew my dad. He graduated in 1965 from El Rancho. His name was Bill Ctibor. He loved Pico Rivera and El Rancho. He talked often about his friends that were killed in Vietnam. He talked about Vietnam more than usual the few months before his death in February. It was as though that time in his life was on his mind more than usual. I know there was not a day that went by that he did not think about Vietnam. I have immense gratitude for all the men that served in Vietnam, especially those that died serving our country. Thank you for your service. Thank you for sharing your experience and your friends experiences. My dad would have absolutely loved that his friends are being honored. BTW, you seem much younger than 76.

NAVY?! Navel personal NEVER PUT FOOT ON LAND IN VIETNAM! I was an infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division. In the thick of the jungle fighting! There was not one single naval person, whoever fought in Vietnam! Nor was there any Air Force personnel who fought on the ground in Vietnam. It was army and Marine Corps. There were a handful of navy seals, but that was less than 40 total. So what did the Navy people do in Vietnam? They stayed on aircraft carriers, and supply ships offshore! I wish these navy people in Air Force people would stop lying! They did serve our country, but from several miles out at sea! Sir, please tell us what you did that you consider yourself a combat veteran? Because it did not happen!
