Remembering the Vietnam War: A Memorial Tour at Arlington Cemetery

On September 27, 2024, Arlington National Cemetery hosted a poignant tour marking the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. In collaboration with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, this tour honored Vietnam veterans and their families, focusing on those who served from November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975. The tour, led by Historian Marc R. Henderson, shared stories of sacrifice, bravery, and loss, highlighting the lives of individuals such as Army General Colin Powell, Marine General Alfred Gray, and Coast Guard Lt. Jack Rittichier.
Participants visited the gravesites of these heroes and others, gaining a deeper understanding of their contributions during the war. From Navy Cdr. Charles Stonestreet Sapp’s rescue missions to Air Force Staff Sgt. Donald Dionne's tragic death in Operation Babylift, each story represents a unique chapter in Vietnam War history.

My Uncle Richard is buried at Arlington. Silver Star Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He jumped in to the hedgerows of Normandy. A true American Hero.

Two of our brothers served in the infantry. Sadly, one of them is listed along with the 58k+ names on the Vietnam Memorial. He was 19. RIP, Harry.❤🇺🇸
