I would like to take this time to honor the last surviving member of the infamous Buffalo Soldiers.I just learned that Mr. Robert Dixon passed November 15, 2024 at the age of 103! The longest lived Buffalo Soldiers was Mr. Mark Matthews (buried at Arlington Cemetery) who lived to become 111 years old!😳 He passed in 2005. Merry “Christ” Mas everyone.❤

These are AMAZING soldiers. They are a blessing to our country and do honor to their families.

I certainly couldn’t watch this dry eyed. There is such beauty in our world that too many people don’t “see”. A proud moment … ♥️🌟♥️

I AM posting this comment on “CHRIST” Mas 2024. I AM an African-American woman veteran that served over a decade in two different military branches. My late father served thirteen years as a paratrooper at what was then Ft.Bragg. I AM grateful that my parents stressed to me the urgent need to educate myself further in regards to, the “His Story” of African-Americans. Thank you Mr. Perry, Miss Washington and the cast of the 6888th. God Bless you all.

I am so glad that Donald Trump is our new president, and honored dignity and respect is once again restored to the White House and to the solemn ground of the tomb of the unknown soldier, the national disgrace that the Biden administration is placed upon this solemn act is ended!

I agree. There should be a required standard level of decorum and dress for civilians at the Tomb. I am dismayed by how the “honored guests” were dressed. As if they just came from the gym!

From my father, who braved the flak and missile-filled skies of Vietnam in his Forward Air Controller spotter craft.... From my uncle, who was down below in those very same jungles... and from myself, who powered, maintained, and operated parts of the most powerful intelligence gathering platforms known to man to keep the men and women on the ground and in the skies of Iraq and Afghanistan safe and sound - while no member of my family has fallen to the enemy and been lost to the ravages of war, we each know someone who has, whose spirit resides in those marble monoliths under your sentinel gaze... SSG Tavenner - your dedication to excellence; your service to your fallen brethren, no matter the personal cost; the honor you show them, and to all who witness you performing your duty beyond reproach - the blood of our fallen has watered the grounds that gave bloom to your excellence. I, and every honorable veteran of this nation, and of all the nations who have stood together in the face of tyranny and hate, salute you.

I'm waiting for a movie telling the story of black units during WWII that took part in D Day. I had a rare opportunity to talk to one of those old guys I met when I was stationed in Holland, just out of the blue. This old man described the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan to a T! This was around 1992 and that movie didn't come out until 1998. I wish I could have spent more time with him. But when I came back out of the post office on base he was gone. Like he was a ghost. But I distinctly remember him telling me that he was from the south and decided to stay in Holland because they treated black soldiers like heroes and took care of them and in America black soldiers were being hung. I met that old man while he was setting on the bench outside the post office on Soesterberg AB.

We have to preserve our history in order to know where we came from and that it doesn't compare to where God is taking us. He is showing us how far we have came and we are still coming and to never give up hope. Thank you LTC.
