He made an incredibly smart move at 4:03 when he said he did not know the relationship between the mother and son. He refrained from venturing into territory he did not know. This is mainly why is successful at many arguments. He simply stays in his playing field to allow himself to use the most of his knowledge.

Nate's mom is arguing based on feeling rather than logic. Swear words can yes, be offensive, but they definitely make content have a *stronger* meaning through a stronger word. Simple words like "stop" or "shut up" don't mean as much as "shut the fuck up" or "fucking stop". You go, Destiny!

Where is that arguing? That is a normal discussion
@SelfMadeHero0410 жыл бұрын
You seem to perceive the word "argument" as something negative, as in "fighting verbally", while it can just as much be a constructive talk. Basically, they were arguing about if cursing is appropriate or not and the conclusion was: Yes and no, theres a time and place for everything. So yes, it was an argument, but yes, you can call that a discussion, it falls into both definitions.
@Sontraid10 жыл бұрын
SelfMadeHero04 Well my mother language is not english so I might be a bit confused there, but doesnt argue mean something like squarrel?
@SelfMadeHero0410 жыл бұрын
Sontraid My mother tongue isnt english either, but I learned english in an international school, taught by native speakers in detail. I also learned a lot online :P To your question, an argument is a statement, used as reasoning for another statement, thus 2 ppl arguing is literally a discussion. You could, for example be arguing about wether the death penalty is morally acceptable or not, bringing arguments such as, yes in some circumstances, if the accused has also taken a life (making the death penalty a trade, basically), or no, because a human life has indefinite value, and thus no sin could ever judge the death penalty. You would be having a discussion, but you can have it constructively and without a verbal fight.

His audience is SC2 fans being addressed on a stream which is casual in nature and primarly for entertainment, so in that sense he knows his audience in a similar way in which a comedian knows his audience on an HBO special. At professional events, it is understood that at an event or venue such as a broadcasted tournament, a certain level of professionalism must be maintained. (partly due to sponsorship) So you can know your audience without specificly knowing who might be offended

to build on your point. i will not speak about the reasons for not moving out for the rest. but here in singapore it's mainly economical. children simply cannot move out of their parents house because of the cost of living. a 1.8k square ft apartment just sold for SGD$1.1mil in feb. that's about USD$800k. and the bank takes it back in 99 years. so most young adults hold off moving out for as long as possible because they don't want to be stuck with half a lifetime of debt when they're 21.

There will come a time when they are equals, (if not already) but even then, a healthy relationship with your parents is important, and if they don't like being sworn at or disrespected, then that should be more than enough reason not to. To a parent, there role in your life doesn't end when you leave home nor should it. If you want to know why such a thing is important I can explain it to you, though frankly it would be sad if I had to.
