I think these would be the feelings towards war of the dead soldiers if we could ask them now ... and remembering there loss should be remembering how and why war happens.. He who joyfully marches to music rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilisation should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance and all the loathsome nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder. Albert Einstein

+Brian Simpson (All And Sundry) I agree war is a terrible thing, but I believe we should remember that we do live in a country where there is complete freedom. If noone would have gone against Hitler, he would have ended up ruling the whole world.

+Brian Simpson (All And Sundry) Had they not stopped Hitler, where would we be today? Sure, some of the wars waged in this world are for wrong purposes, particularly the ones entered into by the U.S. for economic reasons in the last few decades. However, WWII was not one of those wars. Hitler had to be stopped, I see nothing else that could've been done in that situation.
