Very many thanks to Delvin for the above information.
Each year, on Remembrance Sunday the military participants parade from Wellington Barracks near Buckingham Palace to the Cenotaph in Whitehall for the nation's war commemorations.
Here the parade is led by the Band of HM Royal Marines Portsmouth with sailors representing the Royal Navy. The band is playing the march 'Soldier An' Sailor Too'.
They are followed by guards from the Household Division representing the army. They are led by four military bands from the Guards divisions taking in turn to play in pairs. This year there are also the drums and pipes of the Irish Guards - they have an important role at the Cenotaph (including playing the lament 'Flowers of the Forest' ) but who do not play here.
Finally, and at a quicker pace, The Central Band of the Royal Air Force led contingents from the King’s Colour Squadron, RAF Regiment and the Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing Service.
The return parade is led by the Central Band of the RAF, two bands from the Household Division and the Royal Marines band. The two guards bands playing for the Veteran's March Past and the drums and pipes of the Irish Guards march back to Wellington Barracks without playing.
The parade is joined by members of The London Transport Old Comrades Association - given the right to march by King George V in recognition of the services rendered by the men who drove buses to the front line in France 1915.
Also remember the role of horses in war - it has been estimated that eight million horses, donkeys and mules died in World War 1, and over 2 million in World War 2.
