On the search for great fron flippers, I came across the work of French knife maker, Remi Lavialle. He is a up and coming maker with some very unique designs and the ability to forge his own Sole authorship damascus steel. This one is a gorgeous example of the New Hardy model. What do you think?

I had to use the Euros to Cdn , wow , that's a pocket clip . For that price it should have been the same Damascus as the blade , then it wouldn't look out of place . Overall though , it's very pretty .

Just got a Lavialle Ultrafort the other day, the pocket clip grabs my pocket super hard. So hard it actually left a line in the G10 scale

i think i'd take this (with cheaper steel... from what i can see, RWL bladed ones are in the 500€ range) over a Shamwari any day of the week. particularly for us in Europe (import duties etc), this is a significantly better value proposition (the Sham, direct from maker if you ever get the chance to get one, would be essentially double the price, if not more).

praetor47 yeah, I agree. I’ve loved Shamwaris for years and years now but now the prices have become so ridiculously inflated they are not near worth the price. When I first got one it was $600 for m390 I’m bearings and a contoured handle. Now people are asking no joke $1300 for that. His knives are nice but unless it is using exotic materials no shamwari is worth more than about $700. Like I said I love them but they are not the best F&F or action compared to other customs. This Remy seems like it could possibly be a better overall built knife than most Shamwaris with the beautiful back spacer, lock bar insert, GREAT detent and a few other things.

Ive got one of each. A desert ironwood lultrafort with clip, and a slim 3.3 washer sham. It's not easy comparing the two. Both so different. I can't accurately say which is better, because I got the sham just 8 days ago. Honeymoon phase and all. They both have their advantages. The washer action/smoothness on the sham is definitely better than the remi. Fit and finish on both is flawless, but the remi is more fancy. Shamwari has easily among the BEST pocket clips ive ever slipped into my jeans. So smooth yet secure. The remi on the other hand, has hands down the WORST pocket clip I've ever used. I carefully bent it out to be useable, but it's still unpleasant Price: technically, the sham is the better value here. A 3.3 spiro sham will be around $900 from Gareth direct(a staggering 2.3k+ secondary!), while the remi prices are a little higher. All in all, quality is top notch on both, but if you can get a new sham directly from Bull, be it from lottery or bladeshow. Definitely do it! Worst case scenario you can sell it and use the profits for a free remi, plus have cash left over

Id like to add, sham certainly wins in regards to bladesteel. M390>rwl34 Something to consider if you use your knives
