The Williams peep sight finally arrived and got it installed on the Remington 7600. It was a pretty easy install and I really enjoyed shooting it. I was surprised how much I liked it and how well it shot. I might find myself using this more often than I thought! Enjoy!

Great gun! I have been using one for 20yrs for hunting the bush here in Canada. Using the aperture insert when sighting in helps tighten up your groups significantly. It also helps a lot to use circular targets that are just a little larger than your bead when sighting in. About a 4" circle at 25 yards and 6- 8" or so at 50-75 is adequate. This allows you to centre your bead in the circle and really helps accuracy. Lots of guys like hunting with no insert and it definitely works. I actually really like using a .150 insert for hunting (it is the largest Williams makes). I also use a oil based white paint marker (Sharpie makes a good one) on my front bead. I find it shows up better than the brass. Some guys who use the brass will polish it with Scotchbrite or light sand paper to brighten it up. Good luck this season. Keep the great videos coming.

The white bead is fine for bare ground hunting but in the snow I touch up the front bead with bright red or orange fingernail polish an I used the Williams twilight aperture! Good combination for older eyes! Liked your comments an tips!,,

I ran 1.5-4x scopes for years. Then a bought my kids an old Winchester 67A .22 with a peep sight and it was a tack driver. So I set out and found a ghost ring peep that fit on my Marlin 336 Weaver scope base. I can now switch from peep sighs back to my scope and not lose zero. Flexibility to run with the conditions in the field, the peep sight fits in my pocket.

Get a chair to sit on and a front and rear rest, and a more solid table. You want to know where the sights are zeroed exactly, which means getting as steady as possible. Once zeroed in, then practice from hunting type positions

Nice rifle, reminds me of the Big Woods Bucks guys that are down in Maine (really enjoy their podcast) I had a Remington 30/06, 7600 and sold it, for a 270 BDL. Wish I had of kept it as I love those classic Remingtons. Enjoyed the video Regards Mark

Hi guys , Great gun I had one years ago but I had a situation where buck jumped out I shot and the time it took me to pump and find him in my sights he was gone. That happens quite often when adrenaline and excitement overtakes your mind😊 otherwise great “beater “ gun. Hope the weather turns soon we were 79* in Jersey today.

Always loved the look and feel of the 760's and 7600's. Great rifles. Your set up for accuracy left a lot to be desired. It really showed up at 50 yds. Imagine 100. Take a 12" target to 100 and if you can get it zeroed to 4-5", you can hunt with it. But you got to have a more stable shooting platform. A pillow ain't gonna cut it. If all else fails, scope it with a nice Leupold 1-5x32 Really nice rifle

I understand what your saying. However, I’m shooting a peep with no aperture. The bead at 50 yards basically covers a 4 inch circle. All a want out of that gun with a peep is to be able to hit an 8 inch pie plate at 100 yards consistently. Hunting in Northern Maine woods, most shots are less than 75 yards.

@@MaineOutdoorEnthusiast Hi. Thanks for posting. I would try this again starting with a bag or a cheap sled first. You can can group 1" at 50-75 yards all day with that gun and ghost ring for sure. I switched over to a Hi Viz front post with an aim point of 2" below at 25-75 yards. You get a bright front post in all conditions right up to the last couple of minutes of legal shooting. Aim point just below the bullseye means you aren't covering your deer and can still aim small. If I'm telling you what you already know sorry for redundancy. Starting with a solid rest off a bench you can get 1" group at 25-50 yards in 3-6 shots and minor elevation and windage adjustments.

That is a great rifle. I have been hunting with a Remington Model Six pump chambered in 270 for years. I’m in upstate New York which is pretty thick woods and some farmland where I hunt. This is a perfect rifle for that type of hunting. I’ve probably taken 25 deer with that rifle.

As a Mainer I've had a 7600P.308. 2X scope mounted via a cantilevered see-thru. Wilson Ghost ring with an Ashley white dot front. 16.75" barrel. A "real" Maine hunting rifle. Up-close or out to 200 yards+...deer.bear.moose '06 just as good if not better with heavies like 220 gr for moose or elk.

The Remington 7400 .308 the poor man's M-14. I special ordered mine back in 2003. Ended up having to layaway it twice I was so poor. The triple k 10 round magazines cycle well added 20 gauge side fold stock. Next is a peep sight. Definitely a contender now. If all this fails I'll use the AR-10 for backup. *Additionally Id Love to have a 7600 carbine in .308.*

They are awesome rifles in my opinion. You might want to try a few different brands of ammo, I have a 7600 in .280 and it shoots best with the Remington core Lokts in 165 grain. I tried the Winchester and Federal brands as well but shot best with the Remington. Good luck and shoot straight!

7600 is a nice model gun. Has shot a lot of deer thruout the years between the Benoits and Hal that's for sure. @@JC-sj2pd then my eyes are different because the red polish and orange fiber optics Doesn’t distract at all but actually brings everything together. A black rear sight and front post isn’t clear at all . Sometimes in lowlight you can’t make it out. But to each his own.
