Do you know if the tactical version comes with a capacity plug? I wanna do fowl shooting but the tactical just looks so much better to me. Does the longer barrel help that much for hunting?
@theohioohpinion1152 жыл бұрын
Although I do not know this for sure, but I would say that the tactical is almost guaranteed to not have the capacity plug with it (made for maximum # of rounds within the design) I would go with a longer barreled version if you plan on hunting with it and then buying a replacement shorter barrel if you plan on using it for personal defense. The longer barrel comes with choke tubes which would allow you to change patterns for everything from turkey to skeet. This would be the most universal option in my opinion. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Question, so does come with the rustmatic finish from the freedom group days?
@theohioohpinion1152 жыл бұрын
It is claimed to be a new finish per Remingtons website. I can definitely say is seems to be a way better finish cosmetically vs a freedom group version 870 express. Those finishes would rust with simple finger prints within weeks. As far as rusting like them, time will tell and I hope Remington would have done salt spray or some other comparable testing to test their new finish. I can say mine is as good as the day I pulled it out of the box and it has been through a few hunting trips with rain.

It is the official shotgun of the Chinese army but it is not made by Remington. The China army 870s have all interchangeable parts with the American Remington made 870. I have owned two or three since the 1970s one I extensively used for skeet shooting. It has had thousands of rounds shot through it with no breakdowns and rarely a malfunction usually related to not being cleaned for several thousand rounds..

What is the difference between wingmaster and fieldmaster. Also i heard new remingtons are bad but keep hearing that pardner 870 clone at half price is better
@theohioohpinion1158 ай бұрын
The difference is the Fieldmaster is a satin/blasted finish and the Wingmaster has a polished high gloss finish. The Wingmaster also has higher grade wood with high gloss finish as well as a chrome coated bolt among other small touches here and there. The Wingmaster has a slightly smoother action than the Fieldmaster. If you are looking for a “workhorse” gun, the Fieldmaster is for you, but if you are looking for a show piece but will also work great when you want it, the Wingmaster is for you. The pardner 870 clone is not bad from what I have heard, but you are supporting a China based company vs American made. I tend to stay far away from Chinese made as much as I can especially something that I would want to rely on to go “bang” every time. Remington went through a period during the freedom group years of ownership that was terrible quality control, but since they are under new ownership, I have not seen one single thing that has been bad since. I definitely think the new ownership seems to be leaps and bounds over the freedom group Remington.
@t.m93418 ай бұрын
@@theohioohpinion115 I have doubts every time I see a Remington shotgun at the store idk if it's bad Remington or good Remington. Idk why pardner is named under Harrington and Richardson. They are also like 200 dollar shotguns on sportsman . It was better quality materials than the problem Remington by comparison. Like someone had both and compared and the metals and foregrip on a video and was way higher quality. I cant even find one I wana say there might be some kind of import bans but it's sketch. I also wanted it cus it was cheap. Walmart sells a Mossberg 500 for 297 and a maverick 20 gage for 197. I keep circling around to wanting either a 500 or a benelli super nova. I wanted a 590 but you can't change the barrel to go skeet and idk if supernova is right choice because KZbin research keeps mentioning length of pull is bad and then talk about combs and other stuff that makes shotgun harder to select cus idk that stuff Buying parts for the Benelli seems really expensive too. Like if I wanted to buy longer barrel and a adjustable butt then id be the cost of another Benelli. Then there's the Nordic extension. I think about the price and cringe but then people tell me it shoots like a pillow and muh smooth action . I also have an AR so tactical is not really a need. I fired a 590 once but I don't remember the recoil . Walmart also says something about their computer something something they refuse to sell me a gun because of their end. They were accusing me of wanting to cut the barrel illegally and tried to give me a lot of wrong information too then gave me an excuse about their computers not working . I wish I had a friend with shotguns to try out.

I am a gunsmith and I love Remingtons only because they break so often that they keep me in business. In my opinion, Remington has not made a decent gun in 15 years. They break constantly and I repair hundreds of these pos every year. The extractors will often just pop out of the bolt and are lost forever. On the 1100's & 11-87's the charging handles just pop out and are lost in the grass. I have had many of the Versa Max's in for repair and I am now seeing the V3's come in with cycling and ejection problems. Remington carries no parts for their guns. You have to go to a place in Florida to order parts and they rip you off with excessive shipping charges on the parts. Remington no longer has a stated warranty on any of their guns stating they will handle them on a case-by-case basis. I am working on a three-year-old V3 now and have to replace the action springs, extractor spring, and ejector spring because they are worn out and the gun will not run. The V3's gas pistons carbon up so bad that the gun just stops running. The rifles generally don't brake much but when the extractor in the bolt breaks you can't get a replacement part so you have to machine the bolt to take SAKO extractor or a AR-15 extractor which works great but you have to machine the bolt and the barrel to accept the hew extractor. If you really want a suprise, see what it takes to blueprint a 700 Remington action. Most are out of round and need to be trued up. You then have to recut the internal barrel threads to get them to be perfectly round. You then have to measure the internal thread dimensions so you can correctly cut the threads on an untreaded barrel to match the now oversized dimension of the receiver internal threads. All their shotguns have this glass beaded matt finish now to keep the cost of production down. It's cheaper to glass bead a gun than to polish it to make it look nice. The shotgun stocks on the new guns are coated birch stocks to make them look like walnut. If you want a real shotgun that will run for 15 years before it needs any work, save you money and get a Benelli or a Beretta or even a Stoeger.
@theohioohpinion115 Жыл бұрын
Everyone is entitled their own opinion on this. I know a lot of friends and family that have shot the living daylights out of Remington 870s and I have seen 1 actually break. The issue was the ejector spring breaking off of the gun. It was a freedom group special (of course). They are solid guns IMO unless you go to the freedom group years, then everyone has seen a lot of issues. All the older ones are great and new Remington seem to be great so far. Remember sample size matters and almost everyone owns a Remington not Benelli, Stoeger or Beretta.
@wc153221 Жыл бұрын
Almost all the serious duck and goose hunters I do business with shoot Benelli’s. Right now I have six Remingtons waiting to be repaired. No Benelli’s, no Beretta’s. It has gotten so bad that I and parts suppliers are buying used Remingtons at gun shows and auctions so we can break them down and sell the parts. Another thing, is the 1100’s have no gas regulating system and are very picky on what ammo they will reliably. They tend to not like slugs or trap loads. To get they to run on trap loads I have to drill out the gas ports until they will run reliably. Go to a trap range and see how many Remingtons you see. Very few. The Matt glass bead finish they use on all their shotgun rust very quickly. If I happen to leave one in my ultrasonic cleaner to long, all the blueing will come off. I have to use straight water in the cleaner for Remingtons because if I use any degreaser, the water PH gets too high and strips the anodizing off the aluminum receivers. Remington made good guns 25 years ago but not now. That is the God’s honest truth. Remington no longer makes any of the internal parts of the shotguns themself. Many of the parts are MIM parts. Molten injected metal. They tried this with their extractors some years ago and had to go back to machined extractor because the MIM ones broke constantly. If you put a 1000 rounds a year through one of these guns, like competitors and serious goose and duck hunters do, the guns will not hold up. I shoot a browning Citori for trap, skeet and birds. I use a Benelli for everything else.
@theohioohpinion115 Жыл бұрын
@@wc153221 Like I said, the videos I have made and my comments are my opinion and my experience with everything. Also, everything is relative to price. While Benelli may be “higher quality”, it is also reflected in the price. It really depends on how you are going to use the gun. Most “common folk” like myself have a limited budget and I have been more than happy with the Remington brand minus the freedom group years. The Fieldmaster is a good quality shotgun for the price. I understand it may not have polished outside like everyone would love to have like an older wingmaster but everything comes at a cost.
