Remington 870 Tactical Shotgun Project - My Upgrades

Nice video and shotgun upgrades. After my own trial and error, I found that most screw on aluminum or plastic upgrades will move and come off or fail with heavy use . There are few exceptions. Sights need to be applied with brazing or silver solder or quality screws and JB Weld Epoxy. The sturdy stocks for heavy use came from Hogue, Choate and Magpul. Best example of heavy use is a 200 round match or practice using the stock end as a club.

That's a really unique looking build. I've never seen a shotgun quite like that anywhere else. Would have been good to back the camera out so we could have seen the entire gun in frame at once.

Very Nice 870 build 👍 I absolutely love the railed barrel and Choke. She's a beaut. And rare on my eyeballs. Outside of that.....Yours is pretty well everything I've done to mine in a sense, except I went With the Magpul MOE Butt stock as well. Just always have loved those stocks. Cant beat the forend. In looks or feel imho. Streamight has a cool one, but I hated the feel, and didn't care for the light built in. I did add some cool grip tape to the bottom of my forend. I had some "Hex Tape" to put on my M4/AR hexmags..... After many drills and brass, I still prefer the issued Colt aluminum's and Magpul MOE's. So I repurposed the grip tape. Works real well, and it's a simple mod. Just an FYI... for anyone who thinks the bottom is a little slick.... Lookin for extra traction under 5 bucks. Looks like all you need now is a WML.... I'm no shill for them......The O light PL Pro Valkyrie is what I run though....it is Fantastic mounted left side of the foregrip! Just Another little FYI. I have several olight pl pro Valkyrie's on glock 21's 17's, a couple on Canik TP9 Elite's, etc. Years of abuse.... Love em. I have many other Olights, a couple Streamlights, surefires, an inforce WML..... I think the PL pro Valkyrie is the best fit for this setup. I've had on on the 870 for 1.5 or so years now. Maybe 2 years. I'd say 1k-1500 rounds, of mostly 00 buck. Still flawless. I am looking to grab another barrel or 2, lord knows how many thousands have gone down this one.. Everything about the build, I would absolutely deem PDW / Light-medium Combat worthy at minimum. I've abused mine for sure. The light is a worthy candidate for anyone looking for an awesome setup on the Magpul MOE. Or another weapon even. Got MANY of thousands of rounds on em with the G17's, 21's and others for sure. Probably close to 2k on the Canik TP9SF elite combat, and I got it this year. That being said I think they're great... The lights. The firearms are a given 🤣 I attached mine with a little 5 slot MLok to picatinny rail. Super easy install, about 2 minutes to do it... And now my WML is right at my left hand.... Reach slightly with my thumb, and we're good to go....All the controls are right there, and it is a QD WML. Also quick magnetic rechargeable. If you want one that runs off of Cr123's, the PL-2 is the ticket. And is the one I keep in my "Get Home bag" Anyhow.....Outside of that, you have absolutely everything you need for PDW/tactical/varmint/zombie apocalypse/anti-tyranny shotgun........ Lord knows I've taken mine through training, have used it as a breecher, complete urban tactical courses, both day and night operations, indoor and out..... It all runs without a hitch. Abused like a Hertz Rental. So I am positive they're going to hold up to the general population. Lol! Holy hell....... My apologies. Went back to read what I wrote.... Ummmm.......I get pretty pumped (no pun intended) about our Constitutional Freedoms. Especially those I relate to. And I like to help people if I can, since I am around this stuff daily. Nice work on the upgrades....glad u are enjoying them. FYI...the breacher choke does not add 2 inches to the barrel. If you stick your finger in the choke...you will find that it only adds about 3/4'' to the barrel. If you want that 1''....keep the turkey choke(just don't shoot buck shot thru it). I will agree....that 21'' barrel is awesome. It is by far my favorite barrel on the 870....and I have quite a few different barrels. Thanks for the video!!

I have a wing-master 870 got it when I was 16 first gun I think it has a 22” barrel on it now what sizes would you recommend or attachments i bought it with a pistol grip no stock. And haven’t done anything to it but clean it and shoot it I need sights and stock idk if I should change the barrel what’s the advantage to shorter? Or different ones mine is just a hand cannon rn that’s why I wanna change it 😂

@rexvanderpool9793 All depends on what u want to hunt. ...Ducks, get the longest barrel u can find. Dove, get a 26 inch barrel. I prefer a wooden stock, but others want a lighter weight and go for a plastic stock. Search thru the options and look for used items to save money. Also get a variety of chokes to help u have more options. One 870 can do just about anything.

It looks like you still have the steel plate between the receiver and the stock. I think you only need that for wood stocks...it would get rid of the gap you have there.

Hogue 12” LOP stock with foreend is probably as good or better than Magpul. But still good stuff.

Hi how do you removed the Picatinny rail at the end of the barrel ? I purchase a versa Max and I want to take down my extension tube but I can not do it until I removed it . I already unscrew the 2 screws but it’s not coming apart

Not totally sure of the optic sights. It almost seems mfgr companies want to turn an 870 into a target rifle. I never used mine as such. Pretty much they come in handy when your chasing a half clothed guy out your back door who is screaming 'I didn't know she was married!' 'I didn't know she was '

MBLaam about $500. Could not buy this out of a box. The tactical does not have a choke system and only comes with a +2 tube and 18" barrel. I could have almost bought a Mossberg 930 JM Pro but I wanted a pump. I love it.

Tac Dad my 870 express tactical is threaded for rem chokes.

​@@tacdadMy magpul tactical express came with that Remington tactical choke, magpul forend, magpul stock, XS ghost rear sight, bead front sight, rail on top. I put on an m-lok light mount for my Streamlight tlr-1 with a qd mount. Replaced magazine cap with one that has a qd mount for my magpul ms4 gen 2 sling. Did the extractor replacment. Waiting on a Wilson Combat large safety switch, police model carrier dog spring. Also put in a Wilson combat extended mag spring. Also a mesa tactical side saddle. It runs 6+1. Happy with that for now.

+william jones The sights are junk. DO NOT BUY THEM. A cheap fiber optic "Allen" set of snap on sites for the vent rib at walmart are much better. I'm still looking a a raised front site so its easier to aim. I also switched out the magpul hand guard for the one that came with the promag kit. Less wobble and less felt recoil. Also you get free light attachment.

If you have a front beed on yours get a XS big Dot. It gets glued over the top of the beed and is bid and bright. I plan to get one for mine.
