Remington Express 12ga 2-3/4" 12 Pellet 0 Buck 40yd Test W/ Remington 870 & Stock Full Choke

Today we bring out some of the Remington Express 12ga 2-3/4" 12 pellet 0 buckshot shells and put them to the test at 40 yards through the Remington 870 Special Purpose and its stock full choke. We definitely saw some interesting results from this combo, so stick around and see how it performs!

This loading can do much better. I get 12" patterns ar 40 yards through a Benelli Montefeltro with a Cremator LR choke with them. Cut it open, and the pellets do measure 31 cal. This is from a supply of pre-bankruptcy loads, and each shotgun is unique, however, so you might have different results, I suppose.

I think it can still do better as well, so we'll see what we can get from them through some other chokes

I had a few dead pheasant loads, in a new box of shells. I never bought Remington again.

I've never even seen these before? That pattern was plenty good enough at 40 yards. I'd have to fire a few more test shots to see if that was a good pattern or bad or average, but that load seems worthy of testing more for sure.

Happy new year. Have you tried the deerstroyer or boar blaster chokes from Trulock yet? Just think if Remington used a wad, buffering and copper plated pellets what the results would be. The downside would be the price.

I have not tested either of those chokes yet, but I do have a boar blaster on order, so we will be testing that choke as soon as it arrives. I do plan on testing the deerstroyer as well, but I don't have any specific time frame on when we will get one of them yet

Thats a bit odd I thought it would be better than that especially coming from reminigton, interesting to see if a 28in barrel does any better.

It seems like the Remington buckshot loads that have a wad in them are the better performers so far in my testing. I definitely will be running these through other chokes and setup, so we will see how they do

What is the maximum effective range for improved cylinder choke and 00 Buckshots do you think ?

It depends on what you are trying to do. If you are gonna be hunting and had to use an improved cylinder choke, 25 to maybe 30 yards is probably all you're going to get. I would suggest going to a tighter choke if that what you're trying to do though

Wads are not that expensive. I think you are right about how much it will help. I honestly thought it would still be better than that.

Some of these new Express shells do have wads in them and they have been the better performing shells from Remington so far. I wish these had a wad as well

Nobody shoots full choke in a defense shotgun.😊

I'm a bit dissappointed that you generally ONLY shoot ONE shot at FORTY yards . I know ammo is expensive , but how about one shot at twenty , one at thirty and one at forty yards ?

I think the forty yard test is pretty good. If it's good at forty it will be good at shorter distances. IF he would do something different, I'd rather see 40, 50, and 60 yards. Test a max range so to speak. Or maybe three shots at 40 to test consistency of the shell. Shotguns shells can be really inconsistent.

For a hunting shell, 40 yards tells us a lot of what we need to know. If it's good at 40, it's gonna be even better at those closer ranges

I think it's a 26" barrel because I have the exact same gun.

It is not a 26" barrel. It's a Special Purpose that came with a rifled barrel, so I bought this Carlson's 24" smooth bore barrel to swap on and off of it

Measure the single 0 diameter

If Remington uses a true 0 buck pellet, it will be .32" diameter
