This clip raised and then immediately answered a question for me: "Hmm, can you use those plastic caps on earlier Remingtons?" I guess not. (I have a '52 Quiet Riter that I had to scrounge to find caps and inner rings for.) The orange knob to the left on this machine - touch control?

Hi, I'm new to typewriters and am looking to change the ink ribbon on a monarch 1 I have at home... I was wondering if I should order a Group 1 or a group 5 ribbon to do this change? Thanks in advance.

Been in the typewriter business 42 years and not sure I have ever heard of "Group" ribbons I have the ribbon on 2 standard spools that you re-wind on to your typewriter ($10) I also can wind ribbon onto those metal rings that fit the Monarch typewriter ($20)

@@phoenixtypewriter2136 thanks for the reply. I see it’s a German/ European way of differentiating between the ink ribbons. Thanks
