This video is a life saver. My pops never taught me this kinda stuff so I usually have to fend for myself or pay someone to do it. Someone at the job site said he learned thru KZbin and your video does not disappoint! Much appreciated, subscribed!!

Great video. Can you explain how the needle is secured to the float please?
@brantsmallenginerepairs2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The needle valve has a small spring that goes over the top. On the float, there will be a circle cut out with a rounded slot cut out attached to it. (kind of like a keyhole on an old door). To install the needle to the float, you slide the head of the needle valve through the hole in the float from the bottom. This will depress the spring. Then slide the needle and spring along the cut out in the float (as described above) until it reaches the end of the channel. The spring should then hold the needle in place. Hope this helps. It's kind of hard to explain without pictures or video. I tried to link to a video on my channel but couldn't find one quickly that showed this. Cheers

@@samorgan4582 as far as I know, you need to buy the needle and spring as a kit

I was able to remove the bowl without taking anything else apart. Dropped the main jet & emulsion tube. Main jet was plugged, emulsion tube was clear. Put it back together but it still won’t start. 🤨 fires for a second with starter fluid in spark plug hole.

Ended up removing carb & disassembling. Idle jet was plugged. Couldn’t have done it without this video, many thanks!🙏

Glad you were able to get your machine back up and running. Sometimes you get lucky and don't have to remove the whole carb and disassemble so wasn't a bad idea to try that first. Thanks for watching. Cheers

I have a similar model, Remington 2200S. It starts, runs, engages and drives but dies from obvious fuel starvation. I can keep it running by priming the carb excessively if I want to. Do you think it would be a bad idea to access the main carb jet for cleaning by only removing the bottom part of the carburetor bowl and unscrewing the jet while the carburetor is still attached?
@brantsmallenginerepairs3 жыл бұрын
You can most definitely do that as long as you have room to access the main jet once the float bowl is off. Keep in mind that the main jet is brass and has a slot in it for a flathead screwdriver. You do not want to strip this otherwise you'll be replacing the carb. If, after cleaning the main jet thoroughly and it runs but surges, you'll need to remove the Idle Jet and clean that as well. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Cheers

I am buying one of these on Wednesday from someone. It's 2019, doesn't start and am paying $200. I think it will be one of the issues listed for sure. I have a friend who is a mechanic so he's going to look at it for me. I'm taking a chance but going to pull it over first to make sure it does that and has compression. I'm not going to do all the checks before i buy it like check plug and all that but am assuming it's spark plug, bad gas or carb clean-out. I'm prob going to pick up a good deal i would think.

Snowblowers are the kind of equipment that doesn't see a lot of use and gets stored for more months than it gets used. This creates problems because people don't store their equipment properly and the carbs get gummed up with bad ethanol-based fuels. 90% of the issues I see with small engine repair have to do with the fuel system. Good luck with your purchase and hopefully it works out for you. If you remember, come back to the channel and let me know how it went for you. Thanks for watching. Cheers

@@brantsmallenginerepairs hey, so turns out i gaped the spark plug, cleaned it, put it back in and it started first pull. Now I'm going to buy a new spark plug to start new, but going to keep an eye on why the spark plug had to be gaped. It was actually touching so not sure why.

@@ZanunzZanunz make sure it's the right plug. If the threads are too deep into the cylinder, the piston could have hit the spark plug

Electric is the best way to use a snowblower in this electric era

Not a fan of cords and batteries don't last very long in the cold of winter. But there is definitely a shift towards electric everything these days. Good thing is that battery technology is getting better each day. Thanks for watching. Cheers
