FYI if you are going to spend most of the time carrying your heavy weapon you can wear heavier armor. Even if you are heavyweight you can dodge while holding the heavy weapon. Confidence booster might be helpful too.

I made a similar build with the impact cannon, but I really leaned into shield generation over skill damage. Instead of the energy diverter I used the difference engine which gives 20% increased damage and 4% life steal when a shield is active. And instead A'tareii Booster and the Shades stone, I used the closed loop which gives you shield every time you make a charged shot(which impact cannon counts) and the rerouting cable which gives shield every time you use stamina (dodge). It is a bit excessive, but it will never have its health touched.

same here the life steal on difference engine paired with health regen and siphoner/leech is great to avoid dying

Too bad there no new rings cause some definitivly could be good for my part my rings are : Clear Halo for passive shield after 10 sec without beeing damaged ( stack with warden passive ) , Ring of Ordnance , generating band , Custodian's Bastion , and for Amulet i use Short Circuit and im actually aiming to get a perfect prism who allow you to get infinite Nerudian energy so once il get it if im lucky , Short Circuit and Ring of Ordnance will be replacable i think or one perfect prism pretty good as well is called Prime Time it allow to your secondary class to have his prime perk so yeah engineer overclock as secondary op lol
