I love Jeff - he handled making a mistake with the drawers so well, and leaves it in the video instead of cutting it around. This is what makes these videos so approachable. Those are mistakes I would make too, and I appreciate seeing someone else who does this so much make it too, and share the good, the bad, and the ugly

I made the other mistake, the one he described, rather than showing. Where you attach the bottom draw face panel using the same screw holes as the other drawers and then realise it's sitting about 2cm too high when you slide the draw in lol. This guys channels cool, my builder told me to just go to Ikea for my kitchen cabinets and I've literally never bought anything from there cause I assumed it was cheap and nasty and I like real timber, but it's been great, super easy to return stuff, the online planning was useful ... it's actually great to be honest

We have an Ikea-based kitchen and we have been happy with it for over 10 years. I do find a lot of people look down their noses at Ikea and I'm glad you are positive about them. In our experience the labor for the install was relatively cheap compared to flooring, floor installation labor, granite countertop and new appliances.

Hello fellow viewers. If you noticed, Jeff put in chapters and timestamps in the timeline... that is, if you hover over the timeline on the bottom of the video, you will see that he broke the entire video down into chapters. So there's no need to watch the entire 5.5 hour video from start to end. Just figure out which chapter is relevant and you can watch just that section only. Thanks Jeff for putting in chapters in the timeline!

We installed an island at a farmhouse we bought. I did about 45" (which I didn't measure - I used the "that looks good method based on my size and how I needed the kitchen to function). Now I can have the dishwasher open and put dishes away in the island and still have 4-5" clearances without them touching. I like it :)

I ran into same issue with new dishwasher in a 30 year old ikea kitchen with floor tile installed after the fact. Had the big gap at the top of the DW, so I just installed 2x4 runners with fronts mitered like a ramp. So then the gaps at the bottom which was covered by the adjustable skirting covers. Anchored the DW top and sides. Works like a charm.

I didn't even watch the video, I just know I've done a couple of Ikea kitchens and multiple renovations with other products. It's a relief doing it with Ikea, the products are generally better quality, less expensive, and a HECK of a lot more DIY friendly. It's much easier to achieve professional looking results even when you're not a professional.

Loved this. I was curious about IKEA kitchen cabinets. I was afraid the quality may not be good. Jeff made me feel safe getting the kitchen I have been eyeing for over 2 years! Plus, he was loving his "sexy" new kitchen! I have learned soooo much. And it has given me the confidence to buy my own power tools (I am the wife..hubby not too interested) , and try things. I've redone a bedroom and it gave me confidence. I will be buying the flooring he recommends for a bedroom with old vinyl planks and the laundry room and the entry with marble tile with not my favorite.

I had a kitchen remodel as part of a large combination living/family, dining room open space that was all stripped down to the sub floor but I hadn't decided on the floor product yet. The kitchen cabinetry was installed on the sub floor as he did because it had to be in place for the countertop installation. Later I settled on an engineered wood flooring but that added almost 1/2" around the cabinet bases - no problem there. Luckily the fridge barely slid in with almost zero clearance from the upper cabinet - but the problem came that the dishwasher wouldn't fit under the counter with the wood floor in place so had to be positioned on the sub floor. This created a substantial lip in front that made it difficult to slide the unit in and out for servicing and didn't look particularly good under close scrutiny - I just had to live with it. BTW: Instead of just closing it off, I'd adapt that 4" space on the end for storage of large baking sheets or serving trays.

I have been watching many of your videos as I am renovating my entire childhood home (Lifelong Dream!), normally I notice that you usually level the floor with some type of agent. Is there a reason aside from economy that you chose not to do it? It makes sense with your cabinetry but could it effect the way the floor puddles or drains? Your videos are Ehmazing ;) the community you have helped grow has taught me more than you know! Thank you for your information!

I have built many Ikea cabinets. I use carpenter's glue for the wood dowels and I have a set of hex bits for my drill which I set the clutch from 1 to maximum 5. Give yourself a break. I have 2 plastic folding tables. I tape a piece of clean cardboard on the tables and that's where I do the assembly. It's so easy to damage your cabinet working off the floor. It's also not very comfortable. It will take you 10 minutes to set all this up. It's well worth it. The new instruction booklets are well done. They are all visual. No more bad translation from Swedish to Chinese to Japanese to Spanish to English. 🤣😉

Hey! Beside the NUFLEX did you use something else to keep the sink from falling down? Or is the NUFLEX strong enough to hold the weight of the sink once is loaded ?? By the way thanks a lot for the videos !! You have helped me a lot..

just gotta say as a plumber. your dishwasher installation get a 2 out of 10 rating. You installed it 2-3" to low needed raised up. You put the toe kick on before you ran it and can't see if you have a leak on the water supply. You also did not plumb the machine left to right, you can tell the reveal on the right side grows as you run your eyes down the machine. (Could be the cabinets...but you installed those too.) all in all, great job! I'm just a picky plumber lol. Also, always silicone your basket strainers, plumbers puddy is junk. And that foam gasket will be leaking in a week. Your professional homeowner water supply lines (the pex) come up in the cabinet backwards. Hot is on the left. Also using your channel locks backwards tightening the strainer.

Hi Jeff, Awesome content and video setup. Very..very helpful. I believe I've re-watched it over ten times. I must have missed the exact length of the wall screws you used on the cabinets... I'm eyeballing 2" 1/2? Thanks for all the advice.
