As most have said, great video! By the way to prevent burning of the sugar, skin side down the salmon first with some butter, then as that is browning or browned, mix hot melted butter and brown sugar, 2 to 4 ratio and brush over the top of the salmon while turning down the heat to probably about a 3 to 4. Cover and let steam or flip the fish but watch for burning of sugar. Best served with some root vegetables, like carrot. You could even get some mashed potatoes and made a bed for the salmon with veggies on side. Enjoy guys!

Aren’t bare hooks on the kenai illegal? I was there in July and we had to use at least a bead or piece of yarn on the hook
@whateverbro99552 жыл бұрын
Yea they probably are 😂 they are in Washington and Wis, idk why tho not like they actually bite
@andrewwongsam48342 жыл бұрын
Are you snagging them or are they biting an empty hook?

The way y’all set the rod at the end of your drift could be considered a snagging motion and could get you in trouble with the troopers. FYI.

This just how it works in Alaska. When I went to Seward on a diy trip stopped at sportsmen whareshouse told me to do the same as them I was very lucky confused
@mikeremillard2752 жыл бұрын
@@tonymurphy5995 In Seward, in the salt water snagging is legal. In the Keani where your in fresh water it’s illegal.
@MinnDakOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I feel as if my sweeps at the end were legal but thanks for your opinion🤟🏻
@shane_c2 жыл бұрын
@@MinnDakOutdoors if its after every cast, that can be seen as intent. The motion literally rips the hook across the water column. More likely to SNAG fish than hook em in the mouth doing that. I enjoy the videos but please pay more attention to the conservation aspect of fishing. Easy to set that on the back burner out there but its still important practice.

Just debating if I want to try to catch the reds on the other side of the mountain from me. I’m told they’re in the Eklutna Trailrace right now

You can use artificial bead imitating salmon egg 12mm or 14mm, just above the hook and fish will bite willingly. Nice video

I was told my last trip up there fishing a bare hook was illegal. Is that not true or does it depend on which part of the river you are fishing ? It's kind of a silly law if what I heard was factual. Great video regardless I'm already booking my 2023 trip.
@MinnDakOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
In 2018 they changed the rule so you can use a bare hook
