Excellent video and story Rob. Thankyou for sharing with the world. It would be a wonderful addition if you laid a stainless steel plaque stating the name of the place, the dates and people you quoted and please add your name and the date too. Maybe Parks will sponsor your efforts.. 🙄 God bless you Rob and your family.

Being from the UK, I feel that I now know more than ever what Tasmania is like, I know there are towns and cities, the countryside is what I enjoy being in, the feeling of freedom, Rob is so passionate with everything why would anyone want to stop his story telling of history of your fantastic country, its promotional, now retired and worked with a lot of clowns, if its not there suggestion it wrong, if they think your doing a better job than them your name will be put down and any slight mistake will be blown out of all proportion (Parks and Wildlife) That's life as they say. Please never give in to idiots just find a better way, if you can improve the system for others, you've done your job. All the Best for Christmas and the new year, positive thoughts for next year

Thanks again Rob for sharing this adventure with us. It’s greatly appreciated. Your research and use of modern technology with Lidar is amazing. I get to see and experience the elements of your adventures. It’s amazing that you can pick out a hut site in that dense country. You are also right about the care of the area by Aboriginal peoples. Vote Rob Parsons 1 for Tasmania!

The mudlarks in England reckon those brown jars are ginger beer jars. maybe they had something else in it though, repurposed, kero maybe. Christmas rock is very beautiful. Epic journey. Congratulations on your marriage and your beautiful boy. So happy for you. Cook and other early explorers were amazed by Australia, they said it looked like parkland of some rich estate. That was the aboriginal terraforming with fire. There are sketches and paintings done of it. The Eucalyptus tree actively uses fire, there are some great studies now on how they use it and so many Aussie plants are adapted to fire, even the big raptors pick up sticks with embers and drop them in the grass, then they pick off the scurrying creatures.

Epic man. Glad to see you back up in the Frenchmans area. Stuff Parks Tas, what you're doing is way more important than any petty vendetta they might be holding. Re: cramps. I get the same. Consider this another vote for Magnesium, it's helped me heaps. Also, not sure how much you sweat when hiking, but if you do sweat a fair bit, electrolytes will help heaps. Can get sachets to carry on the trail real cheap, I actually dont leave home for a hike without them. Merry Christmas mate!

I have it on good authority and it works for me that antacid tablets are a good preventative measure for avoiding cramps. It's the Calcium that does the trick. I down a couple of chewables after each walk and haven't suffered one since.

Great stuff Rob. Thanks for not letting Parks stop you from sharing with the rest of us. Great also to see you using a hammock. I’ve often watched your videos (and Levi’s) and wondered why you didn’t use a hammock. I used one on a 7 day trip in Wyoming last year and I’ve slept in it at home ever since - even sold my bed 🤣 keep up the great work. You’re creating a legacy for Scout Your cramps may be due to electrolyte imbalance Finally loved the shots where the camera seemed to be moving as your were walking away or alongside it. Would be interested to know how you did those on a solo trip!

I’ve walked French’s a few times. It’s one of my favs. Yeah I walked it before all the track work on the Loddons to and after. It’s made it relatively easy now with the bottom track work. I sorta understand the hard going getting through the tea trees, then button grass where it’s lower but with big holes between clumps and the Jack jumpers on the higher ones need to watch yourself. It’s a sorta clumsy dance getting through. Anyway, I didn’t know this history. Perked my interest as I love this area of Tassie and not many go out this way. Especially the route you went. Thanks for sharing, was a great reminder for me of a countryside I see little of these days. Have moved to Qld now so can’t really pop out for a couple of days in Tassie wilderness.
