This really helps me in my new career, I kinda lost in the process and this gives me direction again. I wish there is also a rundown on the Define stage process soon like synthesizing and organizing the raw insights. By the way thank you so much!

Wow! that is amazing, I find it overwhelming after the research, to build a common consensus on the insight we got. I tried making an affinity mapping and persona alone but should I do it with stakeholders? I guess the difficult part is running the workshop and planning it beforehand 😁. Also after I theme all of the insight should I make how might we statement per theme or prioritize the theme first? I know this sounds a lot but thank youuuuuu so much!

I like to do the affinity map and research synthesis alone and then share with stakeholders so everyone can review and be on the same page.😊 Following that I find that a workshop is most helpful to get everyone involved and aligned. You’re right imo all the hard work is done in preparation for the workshop. I like to do HMW questions as a group. First I go wide, so divergent thinking and generating lots of ideas, then all the stakeholders can vote on the largest or most important problems. Hope this helps!

Hello Sera, It is a great lesson! Could you help me with one question? How do you define if you are gonna IDEATE BY YOURSELF or if you are gonna FACILITATE A WORKSHOP? I am new to UX UI and I didn't find this information on the sources I have... Thanks in advance!
@thecraftio
@thecraftio Жыл бұрын
Hey good question! It depends on the scale of the project, the timeline you are working with, and the scope of work. I definitely prefer to do group ideation when the insights of other members are really relevant to creating the most robust solutions. For example, if you are working on a more technical product or require different areas of expertise, could even be customer support, or a certain program manager, etc. Hope this helps! lmk if you need further clarification.

Hi Sara, very informative video sharing details about the entire workshop. I am currently a student and learning techniques to get most out of the ideation sessions, this video certainly helped me gain more knowledge. I have a task at my hand wherein I have to perform an Ideation session to find out about the Use Cases that a particular technology can be used for in an organization. I am looking for some ideas for generating HMW questions around it. Can you provide with some tips which I can use for generating HMW questions for finding more use case of a product/technology

If I have defined a complete problem statement in the define stage. 1) Is it wise to create H.M.W questions in the ideation stage and generate potential solutions? 2) Or we can just generate potential solutions by keeping the problem statement (that we defined in the define stage) as a reference?
@thecraftio
@thecraftio Жыл бұрын
Often the initial problem statement leads to the UX research and from there during the ideation you break down further problems that were uncovered in the research. The HMWs would be based off challenges, risks, problems, blockers, etc. uncovered during UXR. Lmk if you have further questions!

Hi Sara, really lovely session. I'm thinking, isn't this session to be facilitated by the Product Manager? You also mentioned creating stories/epics and prod backlogs...wondering what the Business Analyst & Product Manager on the team would be doing if the Product Designer does all these...what are your thoughts?
@thecraftio
@thecraftio Жыл бұрын
Hey Juwon, thank you for the compliment! Not necessarily. Product Designers are not always paired with a strong Product Manager. It can be nice if the PM introduces the team's project and the problem we are focused on, however, from there I like to take over. If the designer was more junior, I can see it could be helpful to joint run that session with the PM. I have never worked with a business analyst on any tech team so I can't speak to that. What city are you working in? Btw, my name is Sera.

Hi, thanks for sharing this it’s very useful for me as researcher in my company. However, I would like to ask question on who should lead this ideation ideally? Because my company is still in learning phase where we all still figure out how this kind of framework implemented. Appreciate if you can have any suggestion for this, thanks!
@thecraftio

Hey there, thanks for the comment! I'm glad to hear this is helpful. Typically this kind of ideation is led by the PD in charge of the project.The workshop is used once research is complete and synthesized. So the PD would collaborate closely with the research team. Hope that helps!

Also, I noticed that some of the HMW cards actually contain a solution, e.g. "HMW show the most expensive or the cheapest route?" I wonder how this HMW emerged. Or was it connected to research synthesis where there already was a statement, something like "As a user I want to see most expensive or the cheapest route?"

The ideating on problems and solutions are 2 different phases. All of the ideating on potential problems comes directly from the research conducted. Hope that helps!

Hi Sara, very great content! Do you make a voting session on HMW questions before going to ideas?
@thecraftio
@thecraftio 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nicholas! Thanks a lot. For HMW questions generally we review what's in scope as a team and then generate solutions individually. We vote on solutions and not on HMW questions. If you'd like to narrow the scope even more, I don't think it's a bad idea to try voting on the HMW questions. 😊
