Detol and baby oil mixed works well for the sandflies. That bridge going in to Hanmer freaks me out. One of those where I can wait to get the hell off it lol. This a cool spot tho. Gets real busy and hard to find a park.
@leopardsgowild Жыл бұрын
We head that was a good mix, Sounds alot cheaper than bug spray as well... Our friends said the bridge was scary, I didn't think it was scary at all... I wish I could have gona across slower to enjoy the view more. The free camping area was pretty full most of the time... one of the days we were the only car there mid day, everyone was off exploring, but by 5pm, full again.

Just in the process of binge watching mate, and got this far. Most of my 77yrs has been on the mainland. I guess you know this, but the South Island has a greater land area than the other island, and a smaller population than Auckland, spread over that area. Anyway, love your channel and presentation. Keep it up. And thank you for sharing.
@leopardsgowild7 ай бұрын
Awesome mate, plenty of videos there for ya to watch, you'll be able to watch for 12 hours a day and a good week to get through them I reckon lol... Love the Mainland, so many big open spaces with no one around. You'll see us get to a few spots like that on the videos.

we feel slightly guilty that we have lucked out with such good weather... Although it's currently very cold down south here, but I'd prefer that over wind or Rain... I'm so hoping things dry out up North especially our friends and family in the Bay.

Oh mate you would have had a good shake out on that one then... I'd love to head out to Lake Tenneyson, we're just on a mission to get to the bottom of the South while it's still reasonably summery... We will probably want to avoid this area in the winter, cause there's no snow, and lots of wind and rain... We'll be looking for those snow capped mountains in the winter.

My wife and I drove through Molesworth a few years ago on a glorious February day. Great memories that we will always have. Probably best done in a least an 4WD SUV as some of the road surface is more than you should expect a smaller vehicle with less ground clearance to deal with. Would do it again tomorrow.
@leopardsgowild Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment mate... The road isn't to bad aye, that section we took back to town, was next level rough, though, you def would want 4x4 alright. Some good adventures to be had through here though for sure, so many cool places.

Acheron is pronounced Ackeron, the H is silent. Great video, I cart logs out of the forest around Hanmer and recently out of the road beside your freedom camp spot. Often wonder what the freedom campers think when an empty log truck rattles past them a 5am heading into the forest.
@leopardsgowild Жыл бұрын
ha thanks mate, Yea those bloody trucks in the morning lol... My thoughts are if it's free to camp at, you have to put up with anything really, loud party going freedom campers, close to roads, everyone is welcome to leave if they don't like it. Beautiful place though.

Oh Man!!!! I wish I was in those pools right now. I remember being there when I did a South Island Tour with Rangers. It snowed when I was in them. It was quite a surreal feeling, being in the hot pools with snow falling down on you. However, those animal carvings in the Forrest were cool. They seemed to be all over the place. Sorry to miss your livestream but it looks like everyone is having fun anyway. How are the kids keeping up with all their schoolwork with all those adventures around the place?
@leopardsgowild Жыл бұрын
It was a great day of high activity sliding and then sitting in the hot pool getting hot... We've had the caravan heater running the last couple of nights... One of us especially has been getting very cold at night... Guess who??? Yea it's called the Sculpture walk some talented people or person made them. The kids are enjoying doing their school work, they definitley miss a few days of it here and there especially when the weather is really nice.
@linley-jane7878 Жыл бұрын
@@leopardsgowild I am guessing that it's Sophie that's getting cold, 😆 it's never you is it Mike? 😉 However, this is the beauty of homeschool, as long as the work is handed in it doesn't matter when or how the works done. I say while there are still nice days around make the most of it, there will be a lot more unpleasant ones coming up as winter comes around and by default be spending more time inside so plenty of time to play "catch up" if needed. Or just dedicate a couple of hours in the evening on those days and you will be fine. 😇
