This (along with all your other tutorials, Leon) simply redefines the benchmark for how skill-based tutorials should be delivered. Outstanding work. I have literally no need for this knowledge whatsoever yet found this utterly compelling watching. Remarkable.

This is the BEST tutorial on YT that clearly demonstrates a more technical,but honest & full lesson on the subject of object removal - 10/10. There is not easy flick of a keystroke to erase subject matter & this proves once more that understanding everything involved will yield a proper clip with a decent standard fix. Again 10/10

A good mindset to have! Some great KZbinrs out there, but they do sometimes say "well that's not too bad, but you could spend a bit more time to make it look good". Typically we're watching a tutorial because we don't know what that extra bit of work is to get it to a good standard, so good to see you show all the bits. Thanks!

Again - really well explained. I don't usually watch many fusion tutorials as I find it to be a rabbit hole that just swallows all my time - which would be great, if I thought that I had mastered other things already. To which I feel that for me I might never reach that. But the way you have explained things here, makes me want to start investigating. Great video

This is brilliant!!! I don't think that fusion has this feature, but it would be great if the people at BMD would put in "pop-up hints" where you could get brief tips on how to use various nodes - or the various inputs of nodes - when you hover the mouse over them. Sure, it is one thing to "read the manual" if you are doing a lot of fusion, but for us independent film makers, it is often something that needs to be done sporadically and spasmatically. It's hard to remember what everything in fusion does if you are only RARELY diving in to it.

Good Tutorial, thanks a lot. For the paint node I recommend using the single stroke option (on top of the viewer) and switiching to clone paintbrush in the tool window rather than setting the stroke duration to an arbitrary value. That way it will always stay visible even if the clip duration happens to be extended later on. (Also quick tip: mergeing can be sped up by just dragging the output of the node you want to be the foreground onto the output of the node that is supposed to be the background input of your merge node)
@team2films

Thanks so much! Those are great points, especially about the single stroke option - should have used that option. Sometimes we show longer or slower or more thorough methods (i.e. with the merge node) for the sake of making the teaching clearer to follow. Wahwahweewah...this is amazing! Once again, outdone yourselves with the hyper-clear explanation. However, the thing that I think is the best is that (unlike a lot of Fusion Tutorials) you didn't just stick with a simple, perfect shot but actually used something somewhat more challenging. With phone apps getting better and smarter with object removal, I think showing off the power of fusion on more complex tasks is so much more useful. Well done!

When you add a Paint node you select Multistroke at the top of the viewer and in the inspector in Apply Mode Color you have to set the Stroke duration. If you select Stroke at the top of the viewer and in the inspector select Apply mode Clone you get the same tool that automatically lasts the whole clip. No problems with forgetting to set the duration

I liked the structure and clarity of the explanation. I have some questions if you dont mind :) Do you have any oher video removing objects that aren't over a flat surface? Something perpendicular to the ground and moving would be a great challeging. Examples like removing characters, shadows, cars that arent aerial shots, etc? Those wouls be nice, but probably a bitore complex, as they will need 3d camera tracking, but we are livky the studio version has one now. Thanks for sharing ;)

I think I'm doing the same steps but I run into an issue when I add the paint node. Even before doing anything to the paint node, simply adding it breaks the "invert steady transform" of the 2nd planar tracker node. So the output media is a shifting plane (but NOT the same shifting plane as when just the 1st tracker is applied). I've deleted all nodes and started from scratch multiple times, following each step. Any ideas?

Thanks leon 🔥always learning great tips from you, sometimes I need to add another video from my timeline to the same clip that I already work on it in fusion tap .. What if I already worked on clip then I decided I need to add clip then another clip.. Mixing clips before and after clip that I worked on seems hard.. Timing and mixing clips seems difficult because clips are handling individually.. really love fusion but in terms of transition and keeps the all video as one smooth piece it doesn't work.. ex-if i speed an video on edit page then convert it into a fusion clip it transfer well ok nice, imagine travel video clips inside each other and so much speed and masking then I noticed speed isn't right from beginning.. I hope I explained my point.. And I really respect your explanations, and the answer from you will mean a lot to me. It would be preferable if it was in a video explanation.. I think many have this problem that makes us prefer After Effect, but we know that Fusion is much better, But we didn't get enough explanation There is no better one than you to explain and simplify this, Excuse my English language, fan from middle east 💙

Thanks so much for your kind comment. The keyframe panel is useful for retiming additional clips brought into a fusion composition. You can also edit them by selecting the relevant media in node and going to the inspector. Yeah, there are things in fusion that are easier in AE. But the reverse is also true. Working on brining more fusion content to the channel. Your comments and ideas are very much appreciated.

@@team2films Also, using a bg+merge to create a mask downstream is a bad habit to teach, in my opinion, because a bg's auto-res setting can trip new users up if they're working with mixed resolutions. This would've been a good opportunity to showcase the matte control node.
@elmacox
@elmacox Жыл бұрын
@@MattMcCool0 @team2films An alternative to the Matte Control node that I use all the time is a BrightnessContrast node. Just enable the Alpha channel and drag the Gain slider to 0.0. Maybe it's just a habit thing but it feels just a tiny bit faster to set up (drop downs are the worst). Mind you, we're talking savings in the sub seconds here so probably not a big deal:)
@MattMcCool0
@MattMcCool0 Жыл бұрын
@@elmacox I usually just send an inverted mask into the garbage matte input.
@elmacox
@elmacox Жыл бұрын
@@MattMcCool0 Ah, of course! Nice one. Love when there's a lot of different ways to go about things:) That said, the amount of clicks are the same:ish at 2 (once the nodes are added and the BC being one click and one clickandaslide). But, counting sub seconds here again, I find the BC thing just a wee bit faster, not having to try and aim for the garbage matte input. Again, probably a habit thing, haha. On a side related note, about the different paint modes, one major difference between the Multi Stroke and the regular Stroke is that the Multi is all in one bitmap layer whilst the regular one is made up of vector paths for each stroke. From a performance perspective the regular one can, with enough strokes, slow things down. So if one fiddles around a lot while retouching the regular one is the better one as far as I know.

@team2films

Bro . I'm just getting to start with the davinci on my own without any paid templates . Making some kinda show reel. So I'm using green screen templates from KZbin. I'm here to learn erasing some thing from that template. I picked up. So thank you I will try now ... Things are good but issue are on usability. Most of the time when I make something which I can duplicate n then reuse the same for another picture or video like a placeholder. I am mostly unable to replace the clip on timeline all the time it happens sometimes not all then I have to go to edit page n drag drop over and then this way it looses all the effects and transitions it also changes the length of the clip all I need to do is replace the placeholder with new photos or video . 2nd issue is..... With the keyboard shortcuts. It won't happen all the time idk it just won't work.. 3rd. If I made any changes in transform to text 3d fusion then I get cropped out view in main output in final . .. then to correct I have to zoom in transform in the main again. In fusion it looks fine but then in main I have to zoom . 4th. Is. When I double click any clip where I have inserted photo if I have replaced it on double clicking I still see a drop down where I see both old and new photos. Why so ? Even if I depete from media I will still see it.

In the second case, what is the problem if you still use a patch of the image to cover up the car like in the first case? Thanks
@team2films
@team2films Жыл бұрын
Hello! I think I understand your question... the reason we're not using a simple patch is because the car is moving. If we used a simple or small patch, we'd need a giant patch! If I misunderstood your question, please say. Thanks for watching.

@@team2films I think I understood your answer, the problem we are facing if you use the same tactic as in the first scenario is we need a giant patch in order to cover up a moving car which is not practical at all. Am I right? Thanks for your prompt response and clear explanation. Cheers!

I tried the second version, but when I get to the paint node in the left hand viewer I get a black image. I went back and it seems that if I put the time stretcher node in the left viewer I still get a black image. Why that would be?
@team2films
@team2films Жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry! It's difficult to say without more information. I'd recommend following your node tree backwards to see where the problem is. The first node where the problem appears... that will be your problem. That might be the time stretcher if that 's the first node that gives you a black image.

@@team2films yeah I think it’s bc of how skewed the first image is in the viewer - not sure. Great tutorial I’m just finishing a music video so I don’t have much time to troubleshoot. Just painting out some ceiling lights honestly
@team2films
@team2films Жыл бұрын
@@SHVWNCOOPER Ah gotcha. You might be able to fix that by changing which frame you choose as your reference frame. It's best to do it on a frame where your paint out has the best visibility. For example if the paint out moves in or out of frame, you'd want to set a frame where it's visible as your reference frame (on the planar tracker). Hope the video comes together well.

In the car example I get to the point where I add the paint node, and I go to start erasing my object, but when I click and go over the object nothing happens. It doesn't disappear. From what I can see all my settings are the same as yours 😑

Thanks for watching. Object Removal is an awesome tool and works great in lots of scenarios. We'll add it to the list to make a video on. Unfortunately, when it doesn't work, it's hard to fix. For example it works well with the tree example, but not as well with the car on the road. It's good to know the more manual methods for when you need them!

Thanks for watching. What are you talking about? Are you talking about After Effect's generative fill? Resolve has a similar feature. It's important to understand manual methods like this as automated options like Generative Fill will not always work and can produce unwanted artefacts.
